This OVA came out in 2011 and would be a continuation of the events that took place in the 1990 Dragon Ball Z: Goku's Father special. Where Bardock had supposedly died along with the destruction of the planet Vegeta at the hands of Freeza.

Honestly, I don't think it's a bad OVA, but I feel like it doesn't make any sense in the beginning. It seemed like a gigantic convenience to me that Bardock instead of dying from that huge attack by Freeza, he traveled back in time. It's something that has no logic to it and no explanation was ever given or attempted. In this aspect, the writers were very lazy.
Honestamente, no me parece un mal OVA, pero siento que no tiene ningún sentido el inicio. Me pareció una conveniencia gigantesca que Bardock en lugar de morir por ese enorme ataque de Freeza, haya viajado en el pasado. Es algo que no tiene ninguna lógica y nunca se dio una explicación o se intentó hacerlo. En este aspecto, los escritores fueron muy perezosos.
To this I add that the relationship between Bardock and Berry is coincidentally almost identical to that of Tapion and Trunks. Literally, almost exactly. Nice, spunky kid gets close to the serious, moody, but good-hearted alien. Ending up forming a bond.

On the other hand, what I really liked is how they gave an explanation to the legend or myth of the legendary super Saiyan. Beyond the fact that the form was a bit far-fetched and nonsensical, I loved that Bardock was the cause of what Freeza was afraid of. It was a great move.

In conclusion, it is a worthwhile special. Despite the huge convenience at the beginning, it is one of the very few appearances of the hunk of a character that Bardock is. I think anyone who likes Dragon Ball would want to watch and incorporate this OVA into what they've already seen. Even without being canon.
