I dare say that absolutely all Dragon Ball fans agree that the series went on much longer than necessary. Making it enter a decline and today, most of the content oscillates between bad and mediocre.


Me atrevo a decir que absolutamente todos los fanáticos de Dragón Ball coincidimos en que la serie se prolongó muchísimo más de lo necesario. Haciendo que haya entrado en un declive y que hoy en día, la mayoría del contenido oscile entre lo malo y lo mediocre.

The question is the following: When was the optimal time to end this series? What was the perfect point to end it and leave it? I believe that in this there is no clear and unique answer. And in this post, I would like to give my opinion.

Having seen much of all the content referring to Dragon Ball, I conclude that he had 3 opportunities to finish this story in a decent and dignified way.

Habiendo visto gran parte de todo el contenido referido a Dragón Ball, concluyo que tuvo 3 oportunidades para terminar esta historia de una manera digna y decente.

The first one I feel was at the end of the Freeza saga. This was undoubtedly the culminating moment. Where Dragon Ball reached its highest point, both in story and narrative. When Goku awakens the Super Saiyan, defeats the emperor and avenges his entire race. The problem is that the ending was not very conclusive and leaves some things open. Like what happened to Goku after the exposure of the planet and his rivalry with Vegeta.

La primera siento que fue al finalizar la saga de Freeza. Este sin dudas fue el momento culmine. Donde Dragón Ball llegó a su punto más alto, tanto en historia como narrativa. Cuando Goku despierta el Super Saiyan, derrota al emperador y venga a toda su raza. El problema es que el final no fue muy concluyente y deja algunas cosas abiertas. In conclusion, Dragon Ball became the example of what happens when greed for money overcomes love for art. When one seeks to exploit a product to the last penny, no matter how much it ruins. It's unfortunate, but that's the way it is.

    A mi me cuesta responder esa pregunta porque las tres sagas me gustaron mucho. Dejando claro que la mejor fue la de Freeza terminarla ahí hubiese sido muy rápido todo, creo que los personajes necesitaban más desarrollo. Es por eso que si, con el final de Cell hubiese estado al pelo. Gohan en su prime como protector de la tierra, Goku sacrificado salvandolos a todos; hubiese sido bueno. Pero llega la de Majin Buu y aunque a esa saga le tengo cariño, con Babidi y Dabura, etc, estuvo un poco de más todo. A Gohan lo nerfearon horrible, Vegeta se vuelve malo!?, y que Majin Buu como villano nunca me convenció.

    Es como dices, DB siempre va a generar dinero y mientras eso pase van a seguir explotándolo hasta el infinito.

    Me considero un gran fan de Dragon Ball Z y he visto todos desde el inicio hasta el Daima, los he disfrutado a pesar de las cosas malas. Para mi el final de Dragon ball debió ser en la Saga de Majin Bu. Igual disfrute el GT que en ese tiempo muchos lo quisieron y muchos lo odiaron. Pero si hoy en día comparas GT con todo lo nuevo que esta saliendo, creo que pasa por encima. Goku siempre estará en nuestros corazones y sera recordado con gran nostalgia. Gracias por hacer este gran post.

    Muchos dicen que debió de haber terminado en la saga de Cell, ya que luego comienza el declive. Personalmente, no es que tenga un preferido ya que todas las sagas de DBZ las disfruté por igual, con todo y sus errores. Si es de decidir cuál de todas es la saga que más llevó "a la mierda" la historia y la franquicia en sí, entonces diría que ese es GT. Y no solo por el hecho más que suficiente de que no sea canon, sino porque vemos versiones de los personajes icónicos como nunca antes lo habíamos visto, completamente diferentes a lo que Akira hubiera hecho, entre otros muchísimos errores sin parar. Si, su final es icónico y el mejor de toda la franquicia, pero eso sería lo único salvable, nada más.

    Yo pienso que el final de la saga de Buu está bastante infravalorado. Que la obra cierre con lo que parece ser una continuación que hasta ahora, varias décadas después, no hemos visto es algo que no le gustó a mucha gente, entre otras cosas. Si solo fuera por sus errores, huecos argumentales, incongruencias narrativas y cambios sin sentido entonces toda, pero toda la franquicia sería cancelada. Pero no, al final es de las franquicias más grandes, ya que con todo y sus fallos sigue entreteniendo bastante.

    En las últimas décadas ha estado más activa que nunca, lo cual puede que sea bueno o no. Pero siempre y cuando entretenga, disfrutaré de cualquier historia con final que nos traigan (excepto Daima, ese no me gustó mucho).

    In my opinion,

    Dragon Ball should have ended with the Cell Saga in Dragon Ball Z.

    That arc represented the peak of the series in terms of storytelling, character development, and emotional weight. Gohan jjourney reached its natural climax the quiet, kind-hearted boy we had followed since childhood finally stepped into the spotlight, surpassing even his father to defeat an enemy that felt truly unstoppable. It was symbolic and powerful Goku passing the torch to the next generation. Everything about that ending felt like closure. Goku sacrifices himself but leaves the world in the capable hands of someone with not just strength, but compassion and wisdom. It was a perfect message life moves on, and the children surpass the parents. That could have been a legendary and dignified end to the series.

    But what came after especially in Dragon Ball Super somewhat diluted that narrative arc. Gohan, who should have become the new main character, was gradually pushed into the background while Goku returned to dominate the story again. I understand Goku popularity and market appeal, but from a storytelling perspective, this was a missed opportunity;
