I am sure that with this blog I will be able to awaken someone's nostalgia. And manage to unlock a childhood memory. If you're over 25, you probably recognize this series.
Estoy seguro de que con este blog voy a lograr despertar la nostalgia de alguien. Y lograr desbloquear un recuerdo de la infancia. Si tienes más de 25 años, es probable que reconozcas esta serie.
This time I want to talk about an anime aired in the early 2000's, called Medabots. Unfortunately, it ended more than 20 years ago.
En esta oportunidad quiero hablar de un animé emitido al principio de los 2000, llamado Medabots. Que por desgracia, hace más de 20 años terminó.

Medabots takes us to a world where humans and robots live in harmony. Where they have a relationship very similar to what would be owner and pet. In this reality almost everyone owns a medabot and many are used for battles. If you notice, there are many similarities with Pokémon. Even in this series there is a version of Team Rocket.
Medabots nos traslada a un mundo donde los seres humanos y los robots conviven en armonía. Donde tienen una relación muy similar a lo que sería dueño y mascota. En esta realidad casi todos poseen un medabot y muchos son utilizados para batallas. Si se dan cuenta, hay muchas similitudes con Pokémon. Incluso en esta serie hay una versión del Team Rocket.
These robots work with a medal, which would be something like their soul. It endows them with feelings and emotions so that they can connect with people and are not just machines without identity.
Estos robots funcionan con una medalla, que sería algo así como su alma. Los dota con sentimientos y emociones para poder conectar con las personas y que no sean simples máquinas sin identidad.

The story centers on a boy named Ikki and his robot named Metabee. The two are friends even though they initially disliked each other. They constantly fight against Team Rubberobo. An association that seeks to steal rare medals and dominate the world.
La historia se centra en un chico llamado Ikki y su robot llamado Metabee. Ambos son amigos aunque al inicio se caían mal. Ellos luchan constantemente contra el equipo Rubberobo. Una asociación que busca robar medallas raras y dominar el mundo.
Although this is the main plot, more interesting things happen. Like a world tournament where Ikki and Metabee have to team up with their friends to represent Japan.
Aunque esta sea la trama principal, pasan más cosas interesantes. Como un torneo mundial donde Ikki y Metabee tienen que hacer equipo con sus amigos para representar a Japón.

Something that surprised me a lot is that when I rewatched a couple of chapters to write this blog, I realized that the series is better than I remembered it. Many times we go back to see things from our childhood and we feel embarrassed, but in this case it was the opposite. I was amazed at the quality it has. Both in characters, humor, development, etc.. I wouldn't even have trouble watching it again in its entirety.
Algo que me sorprendió mucho es que cuando volví a ver un par de capítulos para escribir este blog, me di cuenta de que la serie es mejor de lo que la recordaba. Muchas veces nos pasa que volvemos a ver cosas de nuestra infancia y nos produce vergüenza ajena, pero en este caso fue todo lo contrario. Me asombro la calidad que tiene. Tanto en personajes, humor, desarrollo, etc. Incluso no me costaría volver a verla completa.

Unfortunately for me this series wasted the great potential it had. Personally, I think if they had done better, we would have much more than just 2 seasons.
Por desgracia para mí está serie desperdicio el gran potencial que tenía. En lo personal, creo que si lo hubieran hecho mejor, tendríamos mucho más que solo 2 temporadas.
What ruined this series were the changes they made in its second season. They removed many secondary and tertiary characters without warning. Of which several were beloved. They also included characters that were not well received by the fans.
Lo que arruinó esta serie fueron los cambios que hicieron en su segunda temporada. Quitaron muchos personajes secundarios y terciarios sin previo aviso. De los cuales varios eran queridos. También incluyeron personajes que no fueron bien recibidos por los fans.

I understand that sometimes you have to change things, but why touch what was good and works? I have no idea what went through the writers' heads. If they had done things halfway right, we would have competition from pokemon and Digimon.
Entiendo que a veces hay que cambiar cosas, pero porque tocar lo que estaba bien y funciona? No tengo idea que se les pasó por la cabeza a los escritores. Si hubieran hecho las cosas medianamente bien, tendríamos la competencia de pokemon y Digimon.
I would love to see something new from this series, but it's been too long and it's been forgotten. It's a shame, it's a concept that can be leveraged a lot to create very entertaining stories. Hopefully I'm wrong and I'll see something in the future.
Me encantaría ver algo nuevo de esta serie, pero ya pasó demasiado tiempo y quedó en el olvido. Es una pena, es un concepto que se puede aprovechar un montón para crear historias muy entretenidas. Ojalá me equivoque y vea algo en el futuro.
