This time I want to talk about a series from my childhood. That I used to watch when I was a kid on Fox Kids channel. So this post will be pure nostalgia.

Ultimate Muscle was produced by the well-known Toei Animation and was released in 2002. This would be a direct sequel to the Kinnikuman series.

Something that I find very funny and humorous is how different situations are defined by a wrestling ring. Literally, the battle between good and evil was defined through wrestling. It reminds me a bit of Yu-Gi-Oh! where you could define the fate of the world in a card game.

What really strikes me about Ultimate Muscle is the design of its characters. They are creative, colorful and eye-catching. In this aspect I love it. For example, we have a character that is a cell phone with arms and legs, another one that has the body of a sneaker, another one that has a toilet head, etc. Really, the designs are a lot of fun.

I'm going to be 100% honest with you. Beyond the fact that I don't regret watching this anime as a kid at all, I feel like it would be super hard for me to watch it again now. There's a certain type of humor that I already find very silly and cringe-inducing. For example, when I was going through the series a bit before writing, I came across a scene where there was a fart fight going on. I guess I'm getting pretty old for this.

On the other hand, I consider that the series has a very good opening. This is not an important aspect, but I value it. Its opening theme is moving, has a good rhythm and fits well with the series. A curious fact is that it is performed by Akira Kushida. He is the same one who sings the song Kyūkyoku no Battle (which appeared in Dragon Ball Super when Goku activated the ultra instinct).

Unfortunately, this series failed in Latin America. Since they never finished dubbing the last chapters. So I assume that it did not generate the expected interest.

Anyway, I wanted to share with you a little piece of what my childhood was like. And although as I said before, I don't think anyone knows this anime, I enjoyed writing this blog.
