When the "coming soon to theaters" of this film came out I thought ohh finally a costume film that smells like France and set in Versailles..... Then when I saw the movie I was not particularly impressed. Not that it is not "beautiful," the setting is realistically well reproduced, the costumes are wonderful, Jonny Deep is a great actor who makes for enjoyable viewing, and she, Maiween is beautifully beautiful. In addition, I must say that in my opinion there were two notable scenes worthy of viewing: the "awakening of the King" scene and "Jeanne's triumphal parade through the Gallery of Mirrors" for her first official entry into court; beautiful!
Despite this, I was expecting a little more "personality" a little more " character" in the character of Jeanne; after all, we know from historians, that she was an emancipated woman, she had studied, she was transgressive, unscrupulous, of easy virtue who dared to dare; a woman who by her presence had influenced the iron rules of the court to the point of changing them..... Impossible to think that a woman like her was without personality.....something that didn't come to me
King Louis XV is masterfully played by Jonny Deep who in this film sheds all the funny grimaces he has accustomed us to over the years which gave birth to the famous character of Captain Sparrow and becomes a King with tender and intense expressions and a gentleness and meekness that seem unreal for a Royal; Again, the "character" of the character does not emerge.....and frankly in a historical period where power intrigues were the order of the day it remains impossible for me to believe in such a King.....
There is an overwhelming passion between the two this yes, an attraction that animates the film, although I doubt it was really the case because the King was much older than she was, having said that however in context it fits us well and it is nice to see this love.....
So, in conclusion, my impression is that in this film emphasis was given to beauty at the expense of substance but let me know what you think this is just my humble opinion....

Quando è uscito il "prossimamente al cinema" di questo film ho pensato ohh finalmente un film in costume che profuma di Francia e ambientato a Versailles..... Poi quando ho visto il film non sono rimasta particolarmente colpita. Non che non sia "bello", l'ambientazione è realisticamente ben riprodotta, i costumi sono meravigliosi, Jonny Deep è un gran bell'attore che rende piacevole la visione e lei, Maiweenn è splendidamente bella. Inoltre devo dire che a mio avviso ci sono state due scene notevoli degne di visione: la scena del "risveglio del Re" e "la sfilata trionfale di Jeanne nella Galleria degli specchi" per il suo primo ingresso ufficiale a corte; bellissima!
Nonostante questo, mi aspettavo un pò più di "personalità" un pò più di " carattere" nel personaggio di Jeanne; in fondo sappiamo dagli storici, che era una donna emancipata, aveva studiato, era trasgressiva, spregiudicata, di facili costumi che osava osare; una donna che con la sua presenza aveva influenzato le ferree regole di corte fino a cambiarle..... Impossibile pensare che una donna come lei fosse senza personalità.....cosa che a me non è arrivata
C'è una passione travolgente tra i due questo si, una attrazione che anima il film, anche se dubito sia andata proprio così, perché il Re era molto più vecchio di lei, detto questo però nel contesto ci sta bene ed è bello a vedersi questo amore.....
Ecco, in conclusione, la mia impressione è che in questo film si è preferito dare rilevanza alla bellezza a svantaggio della sostanza ma fatemi sapere cosa ne pensate questo è solo il mio modesto parere....
