I took another look at Whiplash this week. It's great every time. If you still haven't seen it, I suggest you do.
My original analysis contained a much simpler drawing but went into depth in the write up.
My perspective on the structure hasn't changed much since that post, but this drawing is much more specific, much cleaner, and I wanted to share.
What maybe impresses me most every time is the lack of ingredients--this film is only stepping away from your childhood and toward your passion. Even the romantic element is there just to highlight a commitment to drumming, a commitment to the passion.
So well made on so many fronts.
