First of all, there are two things that bug me about this movie. The first one is that this movie have so much material to last 30 more minutes. Not every movie can last long, only the best ones with the strong stories and this one is one of them.
The second thing was about Brad Pitt, he played his role perfectly with some human quotes and lines which I think that he deserved a bit more in this movie, he could have played a better and longer role, not just appearing with few sentences about his support and for the black ones and their rights.
The story is inspired by real events, directed by autobiography book written by the violinist and carpenter Solomon, born as a free man while in his hometown he run into two circus promoters that are promising him highly paid job as musician in the circus. Without informing his wife, he will accept the invitation and he goes with the strangers and later on he will be locked up and forced to be a slave. His documents will be destroyed and he will lose his personality. He will get a new name and he will be forced to work on plantations owned by wealthy landowners.
Excellent acting, top staging, the costume design was very well designed as well, it takes you back in the past and you can really experience the life in that time and feel sad and frustrated about the whole slavery movement.
The movie is a sad and inspiring story that leads us to questioning, thinking learning for courage and friendship, drawing power from our hope.
