This is the first movie created by Steven Soderbergh, he also did more good movies later, and one of them is “Traffic”.
Sex, lies, and videotape begins with a distant acquaintance comes to a short stay in the house of a young couple. The stranger has a strange sexual fetish, from that point the couple will have a very different life than the one they had before the stranger entered the door.
The movie is so good because Steven was doing a magic with the camera, he also used the silence to show how good storyteller he is.
On the beginning of the movie, we see a scene with a woman sitting at a psychiatrist, we do not know who she is, what she is and the darkness begins with Soderberg taking us to other places and other characters, and they are already well incorporated in the story.
The other thing that I really liked is the dialogues, they were strong with a lot of weight on them, you watch them how they talk and you think that this is how every human being should talk while he is with a conversation with another one.
Everything that happens later in the movie leaves a burden of a mountain. Serious viewer cannot remain the same after watching this movie, he cannot forget it after some time, the movie will be inside of your brain for few days, he will think, he will try to answer many questions, he will want to talk about him, but he will not know how to express it.
The ordinary viewer will wonder where was the “sex” in this movie called “Sex, Lies, and Videotape”.
