Vertigo (1958) by Alfred Hitchcock reviewed by me.
From my perspective, I think that this is Alfred's best movie!
In short term, is a movie about a San Francisco detective who suffers from acrophobia. The San Francisco detective John "Scottie" Ferguson is being asked by his friend to follow his wife Madeleine who is behaving little strange lately and to inform him about her daily activities. It's all good until he starts to become obsessed with her.
At the beginning, it's all normal for Scottie until he follows her into a graveyard where he finds her "Madeleine" placing flowers on a San Francisco beauty who died a long time ago.
Short after that, Madeleine starts to think that she is being under a spell from the beauty of San Francisco, and her mood starts to change slowly.
Madeleine behavior starts to trigger Scottie attention, and she becomes his obsession.
One day, Scottie followed Madeleine to beneath the Golden Gate Bridge where she suddenly felt suicidal and she throws herself into the water. Scottie, as he was watching her from a distance, he was frightened and jumped into the water to save her, luckily, he was right on time.
Scotty pulls her out of the water quickly, as he holds her in his arms, he started to fall in love with her.
After the incident, Scottie is getting deeply involved with her, he became obsessed with her, he wonders how can he save her, the wife of another man from her obsession.
A great performance by one of the most talented actors of that time, James Stewart and the beautiful Kim Novak.
It's best to leave it here, otherwise, I may spoil the movie.
