En incontables ocasiones hemos presenciado marchas, movimientos, huelgas, manifestaciones y tumultos en donde las mujeres buscan igualdad de género para diferentes objetivos e ideales que rodean la palabra "EMPODERAMIENTO"; a pesar de ser un tema de controversia, en la actualidad continua con la lucha constante para que terceras personas que integran algún poder adquisitivo dentro o fuera del gobierno, volteen a ver y cubran dichas necesidades que han sido gritadas a como de lugar, atrayendo miradas a favor y en contra de este tema, conforme a la ideología, creencias, estilo de vida, educación o costumbre. Cabe resaltar que más allá de estos eventos, el mundo del cine ha buscado ser partícipe del mismo para aportar un granito de arena a dicho movimiento, sea una buena o mala ejecución, busca aprovechar la oportunidad.

En esta ocasión quiero hablar sobre una revolucionaria película que agitará los estereotipos creados, forzados y modificados a su conveniencia: La mujer rey, historia sobre nuestra protagonista Nanisca, quien es general de la unidad militar exclusivamente femenina, dentro del Reino de Dahomey, uno de los estados más poderosos de África en los siglos XVIII y XIX; donde su principal objetivo será el luchar contra enemigos que violentaron su honor, esclavizaron a su gente y amenazaron con destruir todo por lo que habían vivido, sobajando así a su género y dudar de la verdadera fuerza que este grupo de guerreras tiene en su interior. Película que en lo particular consideré que podría caer en el encasillamiento actual de algunos conceptos sobre el "movimiento feminista", sin embargo, llegó a impactarme la forma en como abarcan el honor y fortaleza de defender un verdadero ideal que busca un cambio constructivo.

A film that in particular I considered that it could fall into the current pigeonholing of some concepts about the "feminist movement", however, it came to impact me the way they embrace the honor and strength to defend a true ideal that seeks a constructive change.

Esta es una de las ocasiones en las que en realidad no sabría por donde empezar para tratar de explicarles mi impresión por la película sin caer en un gran spoiler alert que arruine la trama de la misma jeje...Comenzaré con EXIGIR que en cuanto tengan la oportunidad de verla, no lo hagan con una expectativa estereotípica, amplíen su mente y déjense sorprender por la calidad de la trama, la increíble interpretación de las mujeres que forma parte del grupo guerrero y la forma en como la dirección busca no ser opacada por el concepto de "los límites de a feminidad"; si buscas una película que te brinde compasión o lástima hacia dicho género, creeme que esa no será así. Esta película va más allá de buscar la igualdad, en este mundo se trata de que el más fuerte sobreviva, se afronte a sus más terribles miedos, no tener tiempo para lamentaciones, no esperar a que alguien más llegue a rescatarte, el nunca negarse a una situación de riesgo, curar tus propias heridas y librar tus batallas, manteniéndote a flote y en pie como una verdadera guerrera que por sí misma es invencible, pero también lo será al contar con una red de apoyo que logre respaldarla y no opacarla.
This is one of the occasions when I really wouldn't know where to start to try to explain my impression of the movie without falling into a big spoiler alert that ruins the plot of the movie hehe.... I will start with DEMANDING that when you have the opportunity to see it, do not do it with a stereotypical expectation, expand your mind and let yourself be surprised by the quality of the plot, the incredible interpretation of the women who are part of the warrior group and the way in which the direction seeks not to be overshadowed by the concept of "the limits of femininity"; if you are looking for a movie that gives you sympathy or pity towards that gender, believe me that will not be the case. This film goes beyond seeking equality, in this world it is about the strongest surviving, facing their most terrible fears, not having time for regrets, not waiting for someone else to come to your rescue, never refusing a risky situation, healing your own wounds and fighting your battles, keeping you afloat and standing as a true warrior who by herself is invincible, but also by having a support network that manages to back her up and not overshadow her.
