Reborn Rich was released about 2 days ago. This south korean drama stars one of the hottest actors, Song Joong-Ki who is known for many hit korean dramas such as Vincenzo and descendant of the sun. Reborn rich is based on a web novel adaptation with the same title written by Kim Tae-Hee who also wrote Sungkyunkwan Scandal. In this K-drama it’s also filled with senior actors and somecasts that are frequent on K-drama. If you love K-drama, this is a drama that you should not miss during this holiday season.
If you subscribe to VIU, this drama will be available every Friday-Saturday. At the moment in Viu, there are 3 episodes that have aired which basically was the introductory part of this drama. The story revolves around the life of Yoon Hyun-Woo(Song Joong Ki), a brilliant young executives who works in a mega corporation called soonyang. In this mega corporation run by soonyang family is riddled with power struggles as each children attempting to take the throne of soonyang. Yoon Hyun Woo, is a devoted worker that dedicated his life to the corporation but soon found himself to be murdered. Strangely, he woke up years back in 1987 when he found himself in a young body of Jin Do-Joon, the youngest member of soonyang family. At first, he was shocked upon learning that he was reborn as part of the chaebol family. He soon use the advantage of his knowledge from the future to catch the attention of his grandfather Jin Yang-Cheol (Lee Sung-Min) who is very strict and has a military background that influences the way he sees business and even managing his family. Do-joon, with a sight of future is attempting to also take the soonyang throne while at the same time revealing his murdered that got him murdered when he was tasked to get money in Turkey. Will he uncover the murdered? What are the twists that could happen?
It’s too early to guess. However, I personally have a big expectation that this will be another hit. I have been slightly disappointed that there are many recent k-dramas with advertisements, great promo, and in the end, the story ended poorly. One of them is a drama called The Empire which looked promising at first but ended on a bad note. Although there are interesting messages in that drama, it’s best to say that it failed to deliver the story as a whole. This is why, I can only hope that after investing time to watch this Reborn rich, they will end beautifully where everyone got the justice they need and with a decent closure of the problems.
