Hello my dear friends! It's been a long time since I wanted to review this tv show that for me is undoubtedly one of the best in its genre, I don't know if any of you have seen at least some of its seasons, but I can assure you that if you do, you will have a very nice and funny time, laughing to no end with the famous phrases like "Go away, Mr. Cuesta, go away!" "thief" "What a mess!" and the classic "A little bit of please!" that's mean somethin like "please be more understanding"

Hace mucho tiempo que quería hacer una review de esta serie que para mi es sin lugar a dudas una de las mejores en su genero, no sé si alguno de ustedes hayan visto al menos alguna de sus temporadas, pero les puedo asegurar que si lo hacen, pasarán un rato muy agradable y divertido, riendo hasta más no poder con las famosas frases como "¡Váyase, señor Cuesta, váyase!" "¡Chorizo!" "¡Qué follón!" y el clásico "¡Un poquito de por favor!"

I'll start by sharing with you the opening theme song of the show, this is from the 4th season, it's really funny and the lyrics of the song tell us everything we'll find in the show. (Everything is a mess within that building, the neighbours are spying you all the time and something like that)

"Aquí no hay quien viva" (Nobody can live here) is a Spanish tv show that deals with the typical problems that arise between neighbours in a building, and it does so with a lot of humour, so that it's impossible not to laugh while watching the funniest situations, and it can also be said that it deals with issues that could be taken as social criticism but without losing its humorous essence. It's really old as it was broadcasted by the Spanish channel Antena 3 since 7 September 2003 and officially ended on 6 July 2006, although nowadays it's still broadcasted and we can still enjoy it.

"Aquí no hay quien viva" es una serie española que aborda los problemas típicos surgidos entre vecinos de un edificio, y lo hace con mucho humor, de forma que es imposible no reír mientras vemos las situaciones más graciosas, además también se puede decir que aborda temas que podrían tomarse como críticas sociales pero sin perder su esencia humorística. Realmente es antigua ya que fue emitida por el canal español Antena 3 desde el 7 de septiembre de 2003 y terminó oficialmente el 6 de julio de 2006, aunque actualmente todavía se transmite y podemos seguir disfrutando de ella.

This show was produced by José Luis Moreno, who is also the uncle of the creators, Laura Caballero and Alberto Caballero, it was extremely successful and it became the most watched programme in the 2000s in Spain. It has 5 seasons and each time we find new characters that bring a lot of dynamism and talent.

Esta serie fue producida por José Luis Moreno que a su vez es tío de los creadores, Laura Caballero y Alberto Caballero, tuvo muchísimo éxito y se convirtió en el programa más visto en la década del 2000 en España. Tiene 5 temporadas y cada vez nos encontramos con nuevos personajes que aportan muchísimo dinamismo y talento.

This is the perfect moment to introduce you to my favourite characters as I can't decide on just one. They are Marisa (on the left) Concha (in the middle of the picture) and Vicenta with her dog Valentín. The three of them are the gossips who live spying on the other neighbours through the 3 peepholes in the door (specially designed for that purpose) and they even founded their own radio programme called "Radio patio" where they broadcast the news of the building.

Concha, played by Emma Panella, is a grumpy, bad-tempered woman who always thinks badly of others. She lives with her friends because she doesn't like living alone, and decided to rent her appartment to Belén, (another of the characters) but she is always insulting her and also the president of the community, Mr. Juan Cuesta.

Vicenta, played by Gemma Cuervo, is very naive, tender and adorable, at her age she still dreams of finding true love as she has never married or even had a boyfriend in her life (which is why Marisa always makes fun of her).

María Luisa Benito, better known as "Marisa" is my favourite of the three because she is a carefree and funny woman, she is also playful and mischievous, enjoys playing pranks on her sister Vicenta and is obsessed with tobacco and an alcoholic drink called "Chinchón".

I think the funniest scenes are the ones that take place during the neighbours' meetings at Juan Cuesta's (the president of the community) where Emilio (the doorman of the building) always complains that he has no contract but even so he always tries to calm the neighbours down when they get out of control by saying his famous phrase "Un poquito de por favor" (a little bit of please) "please be more understanding".

These meetings are usually to discuss problems in the building, such as a broken water tank or pipe, and Juan Cuesta always proposes to solve these problems with a "Derrama", i.e. a collection of money from all the neighbours, but this type of proposal always infuriates Concha who brings out her most famous phrases "Chorizo" (thief) or "Go away, Mr Cuesta, go away" and he usually responds with his also famous phrase "¡Qué follón" (what a mess).

The show is full of stories as each character has an equal role and we can see different situations, some common and others not so common but always approached with charisma and humour. We find the gay neighbours, the gossipy neighbours, the puritans, the libertines, the scoundrels, the responsible, the elitists, the party animals, in short, there are many nuances in this show and therefore there is no reason to get bored while watching the episodes which also have almost no continuity and therefore can be watched at random.

Unfortunately in the last season they all take different paths as the building is invaded by a plague of termites and as the beams are made of wood, this would be a risk for them, so they all leave the building, something that creates a feeling of nostalgia and sadness, but the good thing is that until today (and although there are no new episodes) we can continue to enjoy this wonderful show thanks to the retransmissions.

As a curious fact, the opening song is performed by a Vocal Factory, a group of very talented boys who made thousands of sounds just with their voices, creating a perfect harmony as if they were musical instruments. Unfortunately this group is now disbanded.

Como dato curioso les diré que el tema de apertura es interpretado por un Vocal Factory un grupo de chicos muy talentosos que hacían miles de sonidos solo con sus voces, creando una perfecta armonía como si se tratase de instrumentos musicales. Lamentablemente este grupo está disuelto hoy en día.

There have been a few versions of this popular TV show but I only found two of them, one which is Colombian (I watched it and thought it was pretty good but I'm really used to the original) and the other version is a Portuguese one.
