The 21st century literally opened up the gates for artistic embraces of the haunted past of the German history, with movies like "The Downfall" and "The Lives Of Others". This time we are treated with an adaptation of a controversial book, first issued in english in 1950´s by an anonymous woman. It is based on her daily diaries, caught up in the Russian occupation of Berlin in april and may 1945. It is no secret that the German women were raped repeatedly by their "saviors", but a woman describing exactly what went on and how she managed to manipulate her way through this crises, is another thing. Because the truth may not be quite as politically correct as society wants it to be, in its portrayal of the ethics of "their" women. The author, calling herself Anonyma (Anonymous), was criticized for portraying women in an immoral fashion, even if she, presumably (I have not read the book), just told the story as she had experienced it first hand. The political correctness is ever present to beat reality down - specifically when women´s true nature is described a bit too openly.
Before I head into the analysis, I want you to picture yourself in a prehistoric human tribe. You are attacked by the males of another tribe and they wipe out all the males in your tribe, leaving only the women alive. Keeping women alive is a natural goal for dominant men, since they want to mix their genes with fresh female genes, or at least, this is how evolution has chosen to select, by making their offspring the most adaptable in the future. Evolution plays a huge role in the understanding of what is going on in this war scenario. Now, there are two types of women in general. Those who will spread their legs for new masters, and those who won´t. The genes of those who won´t, tends to go extinct, while the genes of those who will, tends to survive. And the dominant genes of those attacking males, who successfully mate with the willing new women, will also survive, as those are the ones who will protect these women best and secure their offspring´s genes survival. A woman having too many feelings and longings for her recently killed "husband", will have less chances of survival, than those women who can more easily forget their "husband" and spread ´em for the new sherif in town. Just keep this in mind as we delve into the analysis.
We do not get any explanation of exactly how Anonyma ends up in Berlin at this place and time. One would be very inclined to think, that a, apparently, intelligent woman would figure out some way to get out of this metropolis, consistently being bombed by the red army for weeks maybe, before they actually arrive physically. But it serves as a way to camouflage the females lack of ability to make rational choices in the face of overwhelming power (and one might even argue that they want the new "masters" to come and dominate them, so they feel secure, despite even having to become a rape-harem). The movie makes it look like she is just thrown in there without any individual choice. The women, children and old men hide in cellars and likely places in a fruitless effort to avoid the Russians, but are found easily.
When a Russian soldier finds her she peeps a little in Russian (she is of Russian heritage), and the soldier´s attitude towards her loosens up and he invites her to come along and receive some food. It is obvious that the soldier is aware of her youthful beauty and wants to keep her around as a prize of sorts, among the troops. Later another soldier comes around, who drags out another young woman. Anonyma asks him why he chooses a woman, who do not like him and he replies "Those who do... are un-pure". This remark digs deep into the psychology of women and we are thus served with a notion that this is probably going to be a very honest movie. A bit later another soldier comes along who wants to have sex with her. She lures him into a secluded room in stead of letting him rape her on the spot, with the implicit promise of serving his needs "voluntarily". She manages to push him inside in the doorway and lock it from the outside. In my opinion this serves as a metaphor for women´s ability to lure beta-males into marriage and divorce, under the pretense of delivering sex and affection. If she was not able to manipulate him and he was not manipulate-able towards more virtuous affection, she would have been raped on the spot. Women need to control men via sex coupled with the pretense of affection, but at the same time, need the state (the prison is an explicit aspect of the state), for controlling those men with, an excess of (state financed) power. That she does the door slamming shows us explicitly the female action, that is usually obscured by euphemisms and political correctness.
Another question this scenario begs, is. Who are the real guilty group of persons for bringing it all about? I mean, women had an even bigger control of the upbringing of boys to men, back then, and there is no doubt that the mothers during the nazis, were eager to send their children to public schools, despite being infected with huge amounts of fascistic propaganda. There are also studies that show, that children were almost always physically abused and punished, mostly by their mothers, and mostly the boys, for non-conformity of any kind. Prussia and later the united Germany were the pioneers of public schooling, with the explicit goal of creating subdued and obeying state-worshiping "workers". Seems legit to draw the line between this brainwashing and the fact that a couple of generations later, Germany started two successive world wars. So basically the mothers were themselves trying to nourish a "maste-race" of men, who could protect their tribe, but who eventually self-destructed and left them alone with their new masters. The protection was gone, in their hypergamic attraction to state power, that never can be controlled in the long run (actually always out of control, since nobody watches the watchers).
In the red army there is a young medical woman soldier, who at first extends a bit of sympathy towards the German women. She knows exactly what kind of situation they are in, but she also knows, that she has the upper hand at the moment as a field mattress for the major of the troops. And she is not going to give up that bone to some beautiful German whore. She is protected in her tribe and her midget like stature and lower end attractiveness has probably originally spurred her to enter the army, a way of expanding the amount of men around her while "eliminating" other female competition. It is always the ugly women who join beta-males at football matches. They can select among a larger population, with less competition. The brainwashing of the German people comes out clearly when she says "Our nation is no more". She still lives in the illusion of nations, governments, etc ... as if they exist or can be destroyed. What is actually destroyed, are the illusion-enforcing powers and the disciples. What is left is just reality and that is the hardest thing for her to face. The "nation" may also refer to female notion of "male protection". "Our nation" is possibly synonymous with "our men". because soon after she says "Where are our saviors? 'The great army!' It used to be that war and death was for men ... That is over now".
"Those accursed Russans ... Officers, generals .. I am going for the highest rank. From now on, I will choose my rapist(s)". This is a very strong statement and it is the basic premise of the whole movie. A woman CHOOSING to be raped, to make ends meet. She does what she can to condemn the situation with the Russians, but is unable to reach inside her "nationalist" mindset and see the faults of her own hypocritical support of a fascist regime, when everything seemed to go her way, in her short-minded consciousness.
... to be continued in part 2 :-)
