I remember a time in my life where, despite the fact that I've liked anime for as long as I can remember, the truth is that I had completely detached myself from that world. I guess my interests changed a bit over the years. But at a certain point, someone recommended this one to me, promising that I would love it, and they were absolutely right.
In this post I will tell you my opinion on this anime that has been so popular in recent years, without spoilers.
Synopsis
Kimetsu no Yaiba (鬼滅の刃), in English "Demon Slayer", is a shōnen published in 2016 that tells the story of Kamado Tanjiro, a strong, noble young man who has taken on the role of provider for his family since his father passed away. Conditions are a bit difficult in the Taisho era in Japan and Tanjiro's source of income was the sale of charcoal, so a family in those conditions didn't live very comfortably, but they were still very happy.
During that time, many legends circulated, including that of demons prowling at night, so you had to avoid being outside when the sunlight went out at all costs. Tanjiro was aware of these stories but he had never really had to worry about it, until one night he failed to return home on time. Nothing happened to him, but when he returned home he was met with a terrible tragedy...
The power of animation
This anime has a story that is quite easy to digest. It doesn't have too many plot twists nor is it complicated in its narration, so it is simply pure entertainment. Obviously, being a shōnen, there is a lot of action and adventure, and the characters are made to be those brave ones who start out barely able to defend themselves but little by little they learn until they become the best.
Both the protagonist and the rest of the characters are very well constructed so you perfectly understand their motivations and their story, making you feel empathy and become fond of everyone, especially Tanjiro. He is precisely the core of the story since he is a character who is literally the person to look up to. He inspires the rest to be someone better while he himself does it, striving more and more and showing leadership, strength, perseverance, nobility, intelligence and a lot of empathy, even towards those who do wrong.
Tanjiro is the perfect representation of the hero who seeks justice by doing things the best way possible. Although his morals are correct, he recognizes that there is a thin line between good and evil, so he knows that not everything can be resolved peacefully, even if that is always his first option. He is a memorable character that in my opinion is what makes you hooked on the story.
However, I find that the story is not that great. Honestly, it's nothing that hasn't been seen before and as I mentioned, it's not too deep. I don't mean that it's bad, simple doesn't mean that it's of poor quality, but if you're expecting to see an impressive story, then that won't be the case. It has a lot of clichés and concepts that have been seen in other works, although of course everything is narrated in its own style and adds completely original things, such as how the world works with the association of demon slayers and the way in which their abilities develop.
But then, what makes Kimetsu No Yaiba so popular? Well, I would say that it's the animation. The quality of the technique and the level of detail in the animation is simply incredible. There is no anime so far that can compare to the level that Kimetsu has in this regard. There is such a difference that for a moment when I saw the first episode I was completely stunned thinking "what am I watching?". The fluidity of the movement, the details, the colors, the designs, everything is phenomenal. Watching the animation of Kimetsu No Yaiba is like watching a visual work of art

But it should also be noted that this anime is very emotional, each story and scene is perfectly constructed to convey a certain emotion, whether it be empathy, pain, sadness, joy, enthusiasm, hope, everything you feel when watching this anime is on the surface. Don't ask me how many times I've cried because I've already lost count in the first season. The way they manage to convey a message is very well done.
And precisely speaking of its message, I think it is a simple one but in these times it needs to be emphasized more than ever: hope and love. Being persistent in our own battle to achieve that ideal future that we dream of so much, as well as appreciating and protecting those people we love since in the end that is our fuel to keep moving forward.
I insist, this anime is not the most complex one that exists, but it is an exciting and beautiful one that is worth watching.

Recuerdo una época de mi vida donde a pesar de que me ha gustado el anime desde que tengo uso de razón, la verdad es que me había desligado completamente de ese mundo. Supongo que mis intereses cambiaron un poco con los años. Pero en determinado momento alguien me recomendó éste prometiéndome que me encantaría y tenía toda la razón.
En este post les comentaré mi opinión sobre ese anime que ha estado tan de moda en los últimos años, sin spoilers.
Sinopsis
Kimetsu no Yaiba (鬼滅の刃), en español «Cazadores de demonios», es un shōnen publicado en el año 2016 que cuenta la historia de Kamado Tanjiro, un joven noble y fuerte que ha asumido el rol de proveedor de su familia puesto que su padre falleció. Las condiciones son un poco complicadas en la Era Taisho en Japón y la fuente de ingresos para Tanjiro era la venta de carbón, por lo que una familia de esas condiciones no es que viva muy cómodamente, pero aún así eran muy felices.
Durante esa época circulaban muchas leyendas, entre ellas la de los demonios que merodeaban por las noches, por lo que debías evitar a toda costa estar fuera cuando se iba la luz del sol. Tanjiro era consciente de dichas historias pero realmente nunca había tenido que preocuparse por eso, hasta que una noche no pudo regresar a casa a tiempo. No le ocurrió nada a él, pero al volver a casa se encontró con una terrible tragedia...
El poder de la animación
Este anime tiene una historia que es bastante fácil de digerir. No tiene demasiados plot twist ni es complicada en su narración, por lo que es simplemente entretenimiento puro. Obviamente al ser un shōnen hay mucha acción y aventura así como los personajes están hechos para que sean esos valientes que comienzan apenas pudiendo defenderse pero poco a poco van aprendiendo hasta convertirse en los mejores.
Tanto el protagonista como el resto de personajes están muy bien construidos así que comprendes perfectamente sus motivaciones y su historia, haciendo que sientas empatía y te encariñes de todos, en especial de Tanjiro. Es justamente él el núcleo de la historia puesto que es un personaje que literalmente es el ejemplo a seguir. Él inspira al resto a ser alguien mejor mientras él mismo lo hace, esforzándose cada vez más y demostrando liderazgo, fuerza, perseverancia, nobleza, inteligencia y mucha empatía, incluso hacia aquellos que obran mal.
Tanjiro es la perfecta representación del héroe que busca justicia haciendo las cosas de la mejor manera posible. Aunque su moralidad es correcta, él reconoce que existe una delgada línea entre el bien y el mal por lo que sabe que no todo puede resolverse de manera pacífica, aunque esa siempre sea su primera opción. Es un personaje memorable que en mi opinión es lo que te hace engancharte con la historia.
Sin embargo, considero que la historia no es la gran cosa. Honestamente no es nada que no se haya visto antes y como mencioné, no es nada demasiado profundo. No quiero decir que sea mala, lo sencillo no quiere decir que sea de mala calidad, pero si esperas ver una historia impresionante pues no será el caso. Tiene muchos clichés y conceptos que se han visto en otras obras, aunque por supuesto todo es narrado a su propio estilo y agrega cosas completamente originales, como el funcionamiento del mundo con la asociación de cazadores de demonios y la manera en que se desarrollan sus habilidades.
Pero entonces, ¿qué es lo que hace a Kimetsu No Yaiba tan popular? Pues yo diría que es la animación. La calidad de la técnica y el nivel de detalle en la animación es simplemente increíble. No existe hasta ahora un anime que pueda comprar el nivel que tiene Kimetsu en este sentido. Es tanta la diferencia que por un momento cuando vi el primer capítulo quedé completamente anonadada pensando «¿qué estoy viendo?». La fluidez del movimiento, los detalles, los colores, los diseños, todo es fenomenal. Ver la animación de Kimetsu No Yaiba es ver una obra de arte visual

Pero también hay que destacar que este anime es muy emocional, cada historia y escena está perfectamente construida para transmitir determinada emoción, bien sea empatía, dolor, tristeza, alegría, entusiasmo, esperanza, cada cosa que sientes al ver este anime es a flor de piel. No me preguntes cuántas veces he llorado porque ya perdí la cuenta en la primera temporada. La forma en la que logran transmitir un mensaje está muy bien lograda.
Y precisamente hablando de su mensaje, creo que es uno sencillo pero que en estos tiempos se necesita recalcar más que nunca: esperanza y amor. Ser perseverantes en nuestra propia batalla para lograr ese futuro ideal con el que tanto soñamos, además apreciar y proteger a aquellas personas que amamos puesto que al final ese es nuestro combustible para seguir avanzando.
Insisto, este anime no es el más complejo que existe, pero sí es uno emocionante y hermoso que vale la pena ver.
