Siempre me ha costado ver series porque por lo general prefiero un entretenimiento rápido, como las películas. Pasar más de un día viendo la misma historia no era algo que me gustara demasiado, terminaba aburriéndome. Pero resulta que hay muchas buenas historias en las series así que poco a poco he estado intentando ver más. Aún no llego al punto de poder hacer maratones😅 aunque al menos he estado viendo frecuentemente algunas.
Mi mejor amigo sugirió que viera series ligeras de humor, justamente él acababa de ver The Office («La Oficina») de la cual yo había escuchado hablar antes. La empecé hace un par de semanas por lo que hoy les quiero compartir mi opinión, ¡con spoilers!
I have always had a hard time watching series because I generally prefer quick entertainment, like movies. Spending more than a day watching the same story was not something I liked too much, it ended up boring me. But it turns out that there are many good stories in the series, so little by little I have been trying to watch more. I'm not yet at the point of being able to do marathons😅 although at least I've been frequently watching some.
My best friend suggested that I should start by watching light comedy series, and he had just watched The Office which I had heard about before. I started watching it a couple of weeks ago so today I want to share my opinion with you, with spoilers!

La pequeña oficina de ventas de Dunder Mifflin, una compañía de venta de papel en Estados Unidos. Un equipo de rodaje decide grabar un documental respecto a la vida en la oficina, y el gerente, Michael Scott es el más entusiasmado. Grabando todo como de cual reality show se tratara, el equipo graba todo lo que allí ocurre, con escenas donde cada empleado da su punto de vista (o más bien su confesión).
Allí vemos que no todo es color de rosa en el trabajo, y Michael es una de las grandes razones de porqué no lo es. Sin embargo, todos hacen su mejor esfuerzo por hacer la jornada laboral un poco más entretenida.
The small sales office of Dunder Mifflin, a paper company in the United States. A film crew decides to film a documentary about office life, and the manager, Michael Scott, is the most enthusiastic about it. Recording everything as if it were a reality show, the team captures everything that happens there, with scenes where each employee gives their point of view (or rather their confession).
There we see that not everything is rosy at work, and Michael is one of the big reasons why it is not. However, everyone does their best to make the workday a little more entertaining.

Esta serie fue estrenada en el 2005 como una adaptación de la versión original británica. Resultó ser mucho mejor que la original en mi opinión por las actuaciones, las temáticas de los episodios y el estilo del humor. Aunque la versión británica es más realista y honesta sin dejar de ser humor, la versión de US es un tanto más exagerada pero positivista, por eso mismo más graciosa. Es como aprender a reírse en medio de la desgracia y salir adelante; la otra versión es como reírte de la desgracia pero solo a medias.
Al final es muy subjetivo decir cuál es mejor puesto que son estilos diferentes. Para mí ésta versión es mucho mejor puesto que es un tono de humor más ligero, aparte los personajes son adorables porque incluso a Michael Scott que se supone es la manzana de la discordia, terminas queriéndolo por lo tonto e inadaptado que es. Aparte esta fue mucho más larga que la otra, con 9 temporadas que permiten un desarrollo de personaje más amplio surgiendo así subtramas interesantes.
This series was released in 2005 as an adaptation of the original British version. It turned out to be much better than the original in my opinion because of the performances, the themes of the episodes and the style of humor. Although the British version is more realistic and honest while still being humorous, the US version is somewhat more exaggerated but positivist, which is why it is funnier. It's like learning to laugh in the midst of misfortune and get ahead; The other version is like laughing at misfortune but not too much.
In the end it is very subjective to say which one is better since they are different styles. For me this version is much better since it is a lighter tone of humor, apart from that the characters are adorable because even Michael Scott who is supposed to be the bone of contention, you end up loving him because of how silly and misfit he is. Besides, this one was much longer than the other, with 9 seasons that allow for broader character development, thus emerging interesting subplots.
Por otro lado, esta comedia no tiene risas de fondo, aparte la forma de grabar el formato es justamente como la de un documental, incluso algunos personajes miran directamente a la cámara. No es como que rompan la cuarta pared sino que la idea es que ellos realmente están siendo grabados, entonces la esencia del humor del show es más cruda y absurda, lo que lo hace aún más gracioso porque si te imaginas estar en una situación similar simplemente resulta ridículamente gracioso.
Este tipo de formato no es nada común, menos para la época donde las series de comedia solían tener muchas risas de fondo que en la mayoría de casos, o al menos para mí, resultan innecesarias. La atención recae directamente en los chistes y estos al ser sólidos terminan bien. La serie está perfectamente escrita para ser comedia de la buena.
On the other hand, this comedy does not have background laughs, apart from the way the format is recorded is exactly like that of a documentary, some characters even look directly at the camera. It's not like they break the fourth wall but the idea is that they are really being recorded, so the essence of the show's humor is more raw and absurd, which makes it even funnier because if you imagine being in a similar situation it's just ridiculously funny.
This type of format is not common at all, especially at the time when comedy series used to have a lot of background laughter that in most cases, or at least for me, are unnecessary. The attention falls directly on the jokes and these, being solid, end well. The series is perfectly written to be a good comedy.
The performances are simply great, each of the actors does a great job as well as each character stands out in the series, since they have their moment on the spotlight which means that they are not simply secondary, but the story focuses on everyone equally. In general, the cast and script are perfectly complemented.
Es una serie tan buena que a pesar de los años que han pasado de su estreno, continúa siendo popular y aclamada por los fans así como la crítica. Es un ejemplo de hacer buena comedia que no pasa de moda. Prueba de ello es que hay un montón de buenos memes en redes, seguramente habrás visto al menos un par.
It is such a good series that despite the years that have passed since its premiere, it continues to be popular and acclaimed by fans as well as critics. It's an example of making good comedy that never gets outdated. Proof of this is that there are a bunch of good memes on social media, you have surely seen at least a couple.
The Office es una serie que te mantendrá entretenido y riendo todo el rato, así que si estás buscando buena comedia, esta serie es para ti. Es tan buena que me atrevo a decir una unpopular opinion: Es mejor que Friends (no me maten, adoro esa serie también xD )
The Office is a series that will keep you entertained and laughing all the time, so if you are looking for good comedy, this series is for you. It's so good that I dare to say an unpopular opinion: It's better than Friends (don't kill me, I love that series too xD)
