The Boys («Los Chicos», en español) es una serie de súper héroes bastante fuera de lo común puesto que aunque «Los siete» cumplen con casi todas las características de lo que conocemos como súper héroes, esto es super poderes, valentía, audacia, fuerza, entre muchas otras, carecen otras tantas como por ejemplo ética y moral. Entonces ¿son súper héroes realmente? Sí, solo que unos más humanos.
Esta serie que hasta ahora cuenta con tres temporadas está adaptada a un cómic del mismo nombre que fue rechazado por varias editoriales, incluso por el gigante DC Comics, dado que era muy explícito y políticamente incorrecto. Sin embargo su escritor Garth Ennis e ilustrador Darick Robertson no se rindieron y en 2006 fue publicado y alcanzó un éxito total.
Hoy tenemos esta serie que se mantiene fiel al cómic y hoy les daré mi opinión, por lo que advierto de spoilers y contenido explícito✨
The Boys is a series of superheroes quite unusual since although "The Seven" meet almost all the characteristics of what we know as superheroes, this is super powers, bravery, boldness, strength, among many others, they lack of many others such as ethics and morality. So are they real superheroes? Yes, but only a bit more human.
This series, which has three seasons so far, is adapted from a comic of the same name that was rejected by several publishers, including the giant DC Comics, since it was very explicit and politically incorrect. However, its writer Garth Ennis and illustrator Darick Robertson did not give up and in 2006 it was published and achieved total success.
Today we have this series that remains faithful to the comic and today I will give you my opinion, so I already have to warn you about spoilers and explicit content✨

Entonces estamos en un mundo donde los súper poderes son algo real y más frecuente de lo usual. No es como en otras historias donde hay a penas una, dos o un grupo muy pequeño de personas con estas habilidades. Aunque son una relativa minoría la verdad es que existen varios cientos aunque claro, no todos son súper héroes. Para ser uno hay que entrenar y participar en concursos, certámenes, entre otros hasta quedar seleccionado como el mejor para ingresar al grupo de súper héroes «Los Siete».
Probablemente ya lo que explico suena bastante raro, pero espera que hay muchísimo más. Los miembros actuales del grupo son Queen Maeve, Black Noir, The Deep, A-Train, Translucent, el gran Homelander, favorito de todos, y la más reciente integrante Starlight. Ella sueña con esto desde pequeña, entrenó duro constantemente durante años bajo la supervisión de su madre y finalmente logra entrar en el grupo.
So we are in a world where super powers are real and more frequent than usual. It's not like in other stories where there are only one, two or a very small group of people with these abilities. Although they are still a relative minority, the truth is that there are several hundred of people with this condition, although of course, not all of them are superheroes. To be one, you have to train and participate in contests among other stuff until you are selected as the best to enter the group of superheroes called "The Seven".
What I'm explaining probably sounds pretty weird already, but wait, there's a lot more. The current members of the group are Queen Maeve, Black Noir, The Deep, A-Train, Translucent, the great Homelander, everyone's favorite, and the most recent member Starlight. She dreams of this since she was little, she trained hard constantly for years under the supervision of her mother and finally she makes it into the group.

Los Siete son celebridades, todos los adoran. Hay mercancía alusiva a ellos, películas protagonizadas por ellos mismos, series, realities, tienen entrevistas, ruedas de prensa y por supuesto salvan al mundo. The Seven are celebrities, everyone loves them. There is merchandise alluding to them, movies starring themselves, series, reality shows, they have interviews, press conferences and of course they save the world. All of this is controlled by what can be considered their managers, the Vought International organization. In fact, they all live in the Vought tower with all the bells and whistles.
Starlight is extremely excited, she was finally there. She gets officially introduced to everyone and everything seems to be going well, or at least for the first few minutes. The fact is that Maeve hates her, Homelander is strangely passive aggressive with her, A-Train is indifferent and Black Noir even more so. Translucent seems to be missing but The Deep is kind enough... For a few days, until he manages to emotionally manipulate Starlight and sexually abuse her.
These are the real superheroes.

Por otra parte está Hughie Campbell, un chico bastante nerd y común. Tiene una novia llamada Robin de la que está muy enamorado, una chica ordinaria. Ambos lleva una vida bastante pacífica, un día al salir del trabajo hablaban de la posibilidad de irse a vivir juntos cuando de repente en cuestión de milisegundos Robin desaparece, o mejor dicho su cuerpo se desmenbra en tantas partes pequeñas que parece desintegrarse luego de que A-Train chocara contra ella a velocidad supersónica por accidente. «No la vi», le dice a Hughie que queda sólo con las manos de Robin en las suyas y bañado en su sangre.
Hughie desea venganza, pero es alguien tan inseguro que ni siquiera sabe qué hacer. Un día se encuentra con un tal Butcher que dice poder ayudarlo. Si este encuentro es suerte o no queda de ti juzgarlo...
On the other hand there is Hughie Campbell, a rather nerdy and common boy. He has a girlfriend named Robin with whom he is very much in love, an ordinary girl. They both lead a fairly peaceful life, one day after work they were talking about the possibility of moving in together when suddenly, in a matter of milliseconds, Robin disappears, or rather, her body gets shatter into so many small parts that it seems to disintegrate after A -Train crashed into her at supersonic speed by accident. "I didn't see her," he tells Hughie, who is left with only Robin's hands in his and bathed in her blood.
Hughie wants revenge, but he's so insecure that he doesn't even know what to do. One day he meets a certain guy called Butcher who says he can help him. Whether this meeting is luck or not is up to you to judge...

Súper, pero nada de héroes | Super, but not heroes
No diré más sobre la trama porque lo mejor es ver la serie y conforme avanzas darte cuenta de lo increíblemente bizarra y explícita que es, pero queda bastante claro que estos Súper héroes no tienen nada de súper héroe convencional aparte de los poderes. Es precisamente uno de los aspectos que más me encanta porque de suponer que viviéramos en una realidad como esa lo más probable es que
la corrupción por el dinero y la fama afecte de esa forma a personas que son algo por encima del promedio por sus habilidades.
Como dicen por allí, «un gran poder conlleva una gran responsabilidad» pero no sólo con los demás sino también contigo mismo. Si no sabes cómo gestionar un poder que te hace básicamente intocable probablemente perderías la cabeza. Imagina tener al mundo en la palma de tu mano, como Homelander... Es una perspectiva más humana porque finalmente un súper héroes es un humano más con unas cuantas habilidades raras. Pueden ser superiores en ciertas cosas pero emocional y moralmente son lo mismo.
I won't say more about the plot because the best thing is to watch the series and as you go along realize how incredibly bizarre and explicit it is, but it's pretty clear that these superheroes don't have anything of conventional superheroes apart from the powers. It is precisely one of the aspects that I love the most because if we were to live in a reality like that, it is most likely that
corruption for money and fame would affect people who are above average for their skills.
As some people say, "with great power comes great responsibility" but not only with others but also with yourself. If you don't know how to manage a power that makes you basically untouchable, you'd probably lose your mind. Imagine having the world in the palm of your hand, like Homelander... It's a more human perspective because ultimately a superhero is just another human with a few rare abilities. They may be superior in certain things but emotionally and morally they are the same.

La serie también plantea un argumento interesante al crear una corporación que lejos de ser un ente regulador de la labor de los héroes funciona más bien como una empresa con fines de lucro. Seamos realistas, si una persona como estos tipos existiera, con ese poder sobre humano generaría gran revuelo así como capturaría la atención del mundo entero, ¿no crees que las empresas querrían aprovecharse de la fama y la posible influencia que tendrá sobre las masas? Claro que sí.
The series also stablish an interesting argument by creating a corporation that, far from being a regulator of the work of the heroes, works more like a for-profit company. Let's face it, if a person like these guys existed, with that superhuman power they would create a stir as well as capture the attention of the whole world, don't you think that companies would want to take advantage of the fame and the possible influence it will have on the masses? Of course.

Genialmente políticamente incorrecto | Greatly politically incorrect
The Boys definitivamente no es para todo público. Si has leído otros posts míos puede que hayas notado que me fascinan las historias así por lo que cuando vi apenas el primer capítulo que iniciaba ya bastante potente quedé enganchada, tanto que hacía maratones de capítulos lo cual nunca hago (por mucho que me guste algo).
Este aspecto explícito y sin límites para mí aporta mucha más fuerza a la trama puesto que no puedes hablar de una historia realista si no incluyes situaciones realistas, por eso lo que muestran es crudo, sangriento, repulsivo y transgresor, esto último porque en The Boys no existen límites de ningún tipo. Representan la maldad de ciertos personajes de forma visceral, la locura de algunos de forma completa, las tragedias sin censura... Nada es evitado o representado de forma sutil. Aquí no hay insinuaciones, aquí van directo al grano.
The Boys is definitely not for everyone. If you have read other posts of mine, you may have noticed that I am fascinated by stories like this, so when I saw just the first chapter that started already quite powerful, I was hooked, so much so that I did marathons of chapters which I never do (no matter how much I like something ).
This explicit and limitless aspect for me adds much more strength to the plot since you can't talk about a realistic story if you don't include realistic situations, that's why what they show is raw, bloody, repulsive and transgressive, this is because in The Boys there are no limits of any kind. They represent the evil of certain characters in a visceral way, the madness of some in a full way, the tragedies without censorship... Nothing is avoided or represented in a subtle way. Here there are no hints, here they go straight to the point.

A través de lo explícito y crudo de la historia en mi opinión demuestran un punto: No importa qué habilidades superiores pueda tener una persona, no deja de ser un ser humano completamente imperfecto. Y al depositar una fe ciega en el ideal de una persona que en realidad no conocemos nos arriesgamos a encontrar maldad en vez de benevolencia.
Through the explicit and crude story in my opinion they demonstrate a point: No matter what superior abilities a person may have, they are still a completely imperfect human being. And by placing blind faith in the ideal of a person we don't really know, we risk finding evil instead of benevolence.
Mi conclusión es que The Boys es una serie (y cómic) que vale totalmente la pena de ver. Creo que en cada episodio y cada temporada te deja boquiabierto con todas las cosas que ocurren en la trama. Si estás algo cansado de la estereotípica historia de las súper héroes más famosos, esta historia será refrescante y para mí, genial. Así que si no tienes problemas con ver escenas fuertes muy +18, ve corriendo a ver esta serie 💥
My conclusion is that The Boys is a series (and comic) that is totally worth watching. I think every episode and every season it blows your mind with all the things that happen in the plot. If you are somewhat tired of the stereotypical story of the most famous superheroes, this story will be refreshing and for me, great. So if you don't have a problem with watching wild scenes that are very +18, go quick and watch this series 💥
