Corre tiene tan solo 1h y 30 minutos de duración, lo que la hace ser una película corta y relativamente fácil de ver.
Por un lado me pareció que utilizaron este tiempo a su favor para presentarnos a los personajes, desarrollar la acción y concluirla, y por otro lado hubo cosas que me hubiera gustado la mostraran de otro modo en este corto tiempo.
Es una película dirigida y escrita por Aneesh Chaganty y en el caso del guión también colaboró Sev Ohanian. Su fecha de estreno es el 8 de octubre del año 2020.
Como actrices principales tenemos a Sarah Paulson y Kiera Allen, las cuales hicieron un muy buen trabajo que hace que este film se eleve un poco más.
Corre is only 1 hour and 30 minutes long, making it a short and relatively easy film to watch.
On the one hand, it seemed to me that they used this time to their advantage to introduce us to the characters, develop the action and conclude it, and on the other hand, there were things that I would have liked to be shown in a different way in this short time.
It is a film directed and written by Aneesh Chaganty and in the case of the script Sev Ohanian also collaborated. Its release date is October 8, 2020.
As lead actresses we have Sarah Paulson and Kiera Allen, both of whom did a very good job that makes this film soar a little higher.

Diane Sherman es una madre abnegada capaz de hacer cualquier cosa por su hija, incluso dejarla ir a la universidad. ¿No es lo que haría cualquier madre?
Sin embargo, para ella es mas difícil puesto que Chloe sufre de muchas enfermedades desde su nacimiento. Aún así, confía en que su hija es capaz de hacerlo, ya que la ve como alguien más valiente que la mayoría por todo lo que ha tenido que pasar. ¿O no?
La carta de aceptación de las universidades no llega conforme pasan los días y su madre ha sumado un nuevo medicamento a su rutina del que empieza a sospechar. Chloe lo hubiera dejado pasar si su madre no estuviera tan desesperada por ocultarlo.
Diane Sherman is a selfless mother who will do anything for her daughter, including letting her go to college. Isn't that what any mother would do?
However, for her it is more difficult since Chloe has suffered from many illnesses since birth. Still, she is confident that her daughter is capable of doing it, as she sees her as braver than most because of all she has had to go through. Or is she?
The acceptance letter from the colleges doesn't arrive as the days go by and her mother has added a new medication to her routine that she is beginning to suspect. Chloe would have let it go if her mother wasn't so desperate to hide it.
Mi opinión // My opinion
Debo admitir que no tenía mucho entusiasmo cuando comencé a ver esta película. Los primeros minutos se hacen interesantes, y desde ya la actuación de Sarah Paulson te atrapa, lo que ayuda mucho para continuar viendo el film y darle la oportunidad cuando ya no es tan atrapante.
Hablo (o escribo) de los momentos normales en la relación de madre-hija que nos muestran, aunque sé que no están allí para rellenar, sino porque es necesario que nos presenten a Clhoe y su larga rutina diaria debido a los problemas de salud que la han acompañado aparentemente toda su vida.
Clhoe tiene asma, arritmia, sarpullidos a causa de una enfermedad de la que no recuerdo el nombre y parálisis en las piernas, por lo que está en silla de ruedas.
Es una persona con algunas limitaciones a la hora de intentar protegerse pero tiene a su favor el ingenio, la inteligencia y la voluntad, por lo que cuando las cosas se compliquen no va a ser una presa fácil y dará batalla.
Lo extraño de todo esto y lo aterrador es: ¿De qué va a defenderse? Es una chica que ha vivido toda su vida bajo la sobreprotección de su madre, el ser en el que más debe confiar, que no solo se ha deshecho en atenciones y amor, sino que incluso ha dejado de lado su propia vida por ella. Aún así, no todo es lo que parece, y su madre está actuando cada vez más extraño.
I must admit that I wasn't very enthusiastic when I started watching this movie. The first few minutes are interesting, and Sarah Paulson's performance grabs you, which helps a lot to continue watching the film and give it a chance when it's not so gripping.
I speak (or write) of the normal moments in the mother-daughter relationship that we are shown, although I know they are not there to fill in, but because it is necessary for us to be introduced to Clhoe and her long daily routine due to the health problems that have accompanied her seemingly all her life.
Clhoe has asthma, arrhythmia, rashes from a disease I can't remember the name of, and paralysis in his legs, so he is in a wheelchair.
He is a person with some limitations when it comes to trying to protect himself but he has in his favor wit, intelligence and will, so when things get complicated he will not be an easy prey and will put up a fight.
The strange thing about all this and the frightening thing is: what is she going to defend herself against? She is a girl who has lived her whole life under the overprotection of her mother, the being she should trust the most, who has not only showered her with attention and love, but has even given up her own life for her. Still, all is not what it seems, and her mother is acting stranger and stranger.
Esto resulta escalofriante de otro modo, el hecho de que te sientas amenazada en tu propia casa y por el ser que más quieres, que no solo te está negando la oportunidad de ir a la universidad sino que te está atiborrando de pastillas sospechosas por algún motivo desconocido.
Así como Clhoe siente intriga y miedo por su seguridad, yo como espectadora sentí la misma curiosidad respecto a los motivos de su madre, lo cual hace que quieras averiguar qué sucede, ir hasta el final hasta descubrirlo, pese a que esta película pueda parecer lenta en un principio.
Que su madre empiece a hacer cosas fuera de lo común, como [spoiler] dejarla encerrada en su habitación, cortar su comunicación con el mundo exterior y cedarla con inyecciones es intrigante y más de lo que uno cree que pasa al inicio.
Empiezas a cuestionarte si hace esto por miedo a que su hija vaya a la universidad o por otras razones menos agradables.
Algo que admiro es que hubo partes de esta película que daban miedo sin necesidad de poner música estruendosa y repentina, sino planos normales que, cuando enfocaban ligeramente a otro lado salía por ejemplo la cara seria y genuina de la madre de Clhoe, lo que me pareció aterrador y aún más atrapante. Una sorpresa muy grata.
This is chilling in another way, the fact that you feel threatened in your own home and by the one you love the most, who is not only denying you the opportunity to go to college but is stuffing you with suspicious pills for some unknown reason.
Just as Clhoe feels intrigue and fear for her safety, I as a viewer felt the same curiosity regarding her mother's motives, which makes you want to find out what happens, go all the way to the end until you find out, even though this film may seem slow at first.
That her mother starts doing things out of the ordinary, like [spoiler] locking her in her room, cutting off her communication with the outside world and giving her injections is intriguing and more than you think happens at the beginning.
You begin to question whether he is doing this out of fear of his daughter going to college or for other less pleasant reasons.
Something I admire is that there were parts of this film that were scary without the need to play loud and sudden music, but normal shots that, when focused slightly to another side came out for example the serious and genuine face of Clhoe's mother, which I found terrifying and even more trapping. A very pleasant surprise.
Este es un punto fuerte de la película, que te hagan sentir la desesperación y el miedo de Clhoe, la desesperanza al creer que ya no va a poder liberarse de las garras de su madre cuando todo empiece a volverse más serio.
Algo que me pareció común fue [spoiler] cuando Clhoe logra escapar de casa, se encuentra con el señor de la camioneta y al mismo tiempo con su madre. Por lo general en estas escenas el señor de la camioneta no le cree a la víctima, pero en este caso sí (para variar) aunque ya sabemos lo que va a pasar y es exactamente eso: la madre de Clhoe lo derriba al este darle la espalda.
Por favor, ¿Cómo vas a darle la espalda a la mujer de la que está huyendo desesperada y aterrada la chica?
Es aquí cuando la película se pone más interesante porque nos acercamos a la verdad y porque ya Diane Sherman no necesita mantener las apariencias. Sin embargo, también empiezan lo que son las incongruencias (o por lo menos para mí).
Hasta ahora no sabemos mucho de Clhoe o de Diane Sherman, solamente lo poco que nos han mostrado de su actualidad, por lo que es hora de ir descubriéndolo... ¿Junto a Chloe? Es súper raro que haya vivido toda la vida con su madre y no parezca saber absolutamente nada de ella.
This is a strong point of the film, that they make you feel Clhoe's desperation and fear, the hopelessness of believing that he will no longer be able to free himself from his mother's clutches when everything starts to become more serious.
Something that seemed common to me was [spoiler] when Clhoe manages to escape from home, he meets the man in the van and at the same time his mother. Usually in these scenes the man in the van doesn't believe the victim, but in this case he does (for a change) even though we already know what's going to happen and it's exactly that: Clhoe's mother knocks him down when he turns his back on her.
Please, how are you going to turn your back on the woman the girl is desperately and terrified running from?
This is when the movie gets more interesting because we get closer to the truth and because Diane Sherman no longer needs to keep up appearances. However, the incongruities also begin (or at least for me).
So far we don't know much about Clhoe or Diane Sherman, only what little we've been shown of their actuality, so it's time to go find out.... Together with Chloe? It's super weird that she's lived her whole life with her mother and seems to know absolutely nothing about her.

Lo primero de todas estas cosas que no me parecieron es: si Diane Sherman no quería que Clhoe estuviera merodeando por allí, ¿por qué ató su silla de ruedas y no el cuerpo de Clhoe? Que no pueda caminar no significa que no pueda llegar, de algún modo, hasta el otro extremo de la sala.
Extremo dónde curiosamente se encuentra una caja titulada DIANE SHERMAN, que oculta TODOS los secretos y respuestas que está buscando respecto a su madre y a sí misma.
Esto no me pareció muy creíble, porque la película nos muestra a una mujer desequilibrada que ha vivido toda su vida en una ilusión, la gran ilusión de que Clhoe es su verdadera hija y que ha estado enferma toda la vida, entonces ¿por qué conservar una foto de Clhoe cuando podía caminar?
Por lo general estas personas se engañan tanto a sí mismas que lo más lógico es deshacerse de todo lo que les pueda recordar la verdad, no conservarlo como si fuera una asesina en serie atesorando macabros trofeos (ya verán por qué lo digo).
Lo que me hace preguntarme tres cosas: ¿Clhoe nunca había visto fotografías suyas de pequeña? En caso de que no: ¿Esto no le pareció sospechoso? Y la otra pregunta es: ¿Clhoe no recuerda su infancia, cuando aún podía caminar? La foto es de cuando tenía seis años, por lo cual debería poder recordarlo.

The first of all these things that didn't strike me is: if Diane Sherman didn't want Clhoe hanging around, why did she tie up her wheelchair and not Clhoe's body? Just because she can't walk doesn't mean she can't somehow get to the other end of the room.
End where curiously there is a box titled DIANE SHERMAN, which hides ALL the secrets and answers she is looking for about her mother and herself.
This didn't seem very believable to me, because the film shows us an unbalanced woman who has lived her whole life in an illusion, the grand illusion that Clhoe is her real daughter and that she has been sick all her life, so why keep a picture of Clhoe when she could walk?
Usually these people are so self-deluded that the most logical thing to do is to get rid of anything that might remind them of the truth, not keep it as if they were a serial killer hoarding macabre trophies (you'll see why I say that).
Which makes me wonder three things: had Clhoe never seen photographs of herself as a child? If not: didn't this strike you as suspicious? And the other question is: Doesn't Clhoe remember her childhood, when she could still walk? The photo is from when he was six, so he should be able to remember.
Para justificar esta laguna en su memoria, (si es que la tiene), se la atribuiré a todos los medicamentos que su 'madre' estuvo administrándole durante toda la vida, que como empezamos a ver han tenido los suficientes efectos negativos en su salud, aunque no tantos como para causarle la muerte 😒.
Otra cosa que conserva Diane Sherman y que tampoco me parece creíble por lo que mencioné de los asesinos en serie es un artículo de periódico donde salen los verdaderos padres de Clhoe anunciando el robo de su hija recién nacida, lo que nos lleva a un recuerdo donde nos desvelan la verdad: la hija de Diane muere minutos después de nacer, y ella secuestra a Chloe del hospital.
¿Nadie en el hospital ató cabos para concluir que fue Diane Sherman quién secuestró a la pequeña pese a que ese día no solo estaba en el centro médico sino que veía con anhelo a través del cristal de la sala pediátrica?
Por lo visto Diane ni siquiera tenía familia acompañándola en el hospital y que se diera cuenta de su error, lo que es extraño, aunque también podría tener explicación, ya que al ser una mujer con problemas mentales puede que incluso se haya escapado de una institución, pero esto no explicaría la vida 'cómoda' que parece llevar.
Una cosa que me pregunté también fue por qué se esforzó por hacer pasar a Chloe como enferma, en vez de dejarla gozar de buena salud, después de todo ya nadie iba a descubrir que esa no era su verdadera hija.
Imagino que fue para creerse la ilusión de que era su verdadera hija (¿Entonces por qué guardar el acta de defunción?), o porque como ella misma dice, quiere tenerla siempre para ella, como si fuera un bebé.

Another thing that Diane Sherman keeps that I also don't find believable because of what I mentioned about serial killers is a newspaper article where Clhoe's real parents come out announcing the theft of their newborn daughter, which leads us to a flashback where they reveal the truth: Diane's daughter dies minutes after birth, and she kidnaps Chloe from the hospital.
Did no one at the hospital connect the dots to conclude that it was Diane Sherman who abducted the little girl even though she was not only at the medical center that day but was looking longingly through the glass of the pediatric ward?
Apparently Diane did not even have family accompanying her in the hospital and that she realized her mistake, which is strange, although it could also have an explanation, since being a woman with mental problems she may have even escaped from an institution, but this would not explain the 'comfortable' life she seems to lead.
One thing I also wondered was why he went out of his way to pass Chloe off as sick, instead of letting her enjoy good health, after all no one was going to find out that this wasn't his real daughter anymore.
I imagine it was to buy into the illusion that she was his real daughter (then why keep the death certificate?), or because as she herself says, she wants to keep her always to herself, as if she were a baby.
Lo que no me gustó es que de pronto esta caja con todas las respuestas aparece convenientemente para resolver en un día cuestiones de toda una vida. Cuestiones que Clhoe nunca se preguntó.
Yo me pregunté, por ejemplo, por qué Diane no parece tener vecinos, familiares, pasado. Por qué Clhoe no ve esto sospechoso, cómo es que resistió su cuerpo con tantos medicamentos innecesarios o por qué se sentía enferma si no lo estaba.
No nos aclaran si es algo psicológico, o consecuencias de las pastillas. Dejando de lado las preguntas (algo difícil porque aún tengo en la mente la cuerda con la que la ató en el hospital) nos enseñan un final desesperante y algo predecible que consiste en otro intento de secuestro.
Solo que esta vez a Diane no le importa ser descubierta y sus planes son frustrados por parte de las autoridades, dejándola casi muerta.
Sin embargo, la pesadilla no termina aquí, solo que esta vez se invierten los papeles. Comenzaré por decir que hay una parte realista y es que Clhoe, pese a saber que sí puede mover las piernas, no empieza a caminar milagrosamente de la noche a la mañana.
What I didn't like is that suddenly this box with all the answers conveniently appears to solve in one day questions of a lifetime. Questions that Clhoe never asked himself.
I wondered, for example, why Diane doesn't seem to have neighbors, relatives, past. Why Clhoe doesn't see this as suspicious, how come she resisted her body with so many unnecessary medications or why she felt sick if she wasn't.
It is not made clear if it is something psychological, or consequences of the pills. Leaving aside the questions (something difficult because I still have in my mind the rope with which he tied her in the hospital) we are shown a desperate and somewhat predictable ending that consists of another kidnapping attempt.
Only this time Diane doesn't mind being discovered and her plans are foiled by the authorities, leaving her almost dead.
However, the nightmare does not end here, only this time the roles are reversed. I will start by saying that there is a realistic part and that is that Clhoe, despite knowing that he can move his legs, does not miraculously start walking overnight.
Más bien nos dice que está yendo a terapias y que está avanzando poco a poco pero que no sabe si va a recuperar el movimiento por completo.
Lo otro, que bien podría ser realista pero que no me agradó del todo es que acude continuamente a visitar a Diane al reformatorio de mujeres, para contarle de sus días a la vez que le proporciona una dosis de venganza...
Para ser una persona que parece llevar una vida normal ayudando a otros, regocijandose de la alegría que proporciona y diciendo que se siente bien aunque sea de caminar un poco, se me hace difícil conectar con estos sentimientos de venganza y rencor a menos que las cosas no sean tan felices como las pinte.
Por supuesto que ambas caras pueden existir porque el ser humano es complicado y sí, está justificado su comportamiento. Diane le ha robado años de su vida, le ha quitado la movilidad y a su verdadera familia, pero...
No sé, no sentí tanto odio hacia Diane, sino más bien lástima y en cierto punto su comportamiento también está justificado pues sufre de problemas mentales y claramente no recibió ayuda, lo que hizo fue querer, aunque de un muy mal modo. No estoy diciendo que lo que hizo estuvo bien, solo que en cierto modo también la veo como una víctima.
He rather tells us that he is going to therapies and that he is progressing little by little but that he does not know if he is going to recover movement completely.
The other thing, which could well be realistic but which I did not like at all, is that he continually goes to visit Diane at the women's reformatory, to tell her about his days while providing her with a dose of revenge....
For a person who seems to lead a normal life helping others, rejoicing in the joy it provides and saying it feels good even to walk a little, I find it hard to connect with these feelings of revenge and spite unless things are not as happy as I paint them.
Of course both sides can exist because human beings are complicated and yes, they are justified in their behavior. Diane has stolen years of his life, taken away his mobility and his real family, but....
I don't know, I didn't feel so much hatred towards Diane, but rather pity and at a certain point her behavior is also justified as she suffers from mental problems and clearly didn't get help, what she did was wanting, albeit in a very bad way. I'm not saying what she did was right, just that in a way I also see her as a victim.
Me hubiese gustado que Clhoe fuera a verla a la carcel porque de verdad la perdonó, demostrándole ser una persona que a pesar del dolor infligido es capaz de superar eso y más, siendo así una mejor persona que ella porque decidió irse por el camino del perdón y no del odio.
Sin embargo, su comportamiento está justificado, y es entendible que se crea con el derecho de acabar con su vida como ella acabó con la suya, o hacerle sentir lo mismo que ella sintió.

Para concluir, debo decir que esta película sí me entretuvo pese a que pensé que iba a sentir ganas de abandonarla a la mitad. Tiene una trama muy interesante, aunque me hubiese gustado que la trabajaran más o que no dejaran tantos cabos sueltos.
Me encantó el toque de miedo que tiene y la ambientación oscura, que usen esto para atraparte y que te hagan imaginar cómo situaciones comunes pueden volverse drásticas y tenebrosas.
Las actuaciones me parecieron muy buenas, las dos lo hicieron realmente bien, aunque mi favorita fue la del personaje Diane, me agradó bastante cómo esta actriz hizo su interpretación. Para mí, más que creíble.
Me agradó la película a pesar de ciertas cosas que me dejaron inconforme, pero para pasar un rato de entretenimiento está muy bien.

I would have liked Clhoe to go see her in jail because he truly forgave her, showing her to be a person who despite the pain inflicted is capable of overcoming that and more, thus being a better person than her because she decided to go down the path of forgiveness and not hate.
However, his behavior is justified, and it is understandable that he believes he has the right to end her life as she ended his, or make her feel the same way she felt.

In conclusion, I must say that this movie did entertain me even though I thought I was going to feel like giving up halfway through. It has a very interesting plot, although I would have liked them to work on it more or not leave so many loose ends.
I loved the scary touch it has and the dark setting, that they use this to grab you and make you imagine how common situations can turn drastic and scary.
I thought the performances were very good, both did really well, although my favorite was Diane's character, I was quite pleased with how this actress did her interpretation. For me, more than credible.
I liked the movie despite some things that left me dissatisfied, but for entertainment it is very good.
