Adolescentes y sexo, una combinación que personalmente no me atrae, por lo que cada vez que veía el título y la imagen de esta serie en Netflix lo ignoraba por completo.
Esta falta de entusiasmo duró meses, y pensé que estaría conmigo de forma indefinida. Sin embargo, un día simplemente le di al botón de reproducir.
Quería variar, descansar de los mismos géneros que veía, relajarme un poco con algo más... «fresco». Así que, así fue cómo llegué a esta producción.

Teenagers and sex, a combination that personally doesn't appeal to me, so every time I saw the title and image of this series on Netflix I completely ignored it.
This lack of enthusiasm lasted for months, and I thought it would be with me indefinitely. However, one day I simply hit the play button.
I wanted a change, a break from the same genres I was watching, to relax a bit with something more... "fresh". So, that's how I came to this production.

Sex Education es una serie del año 2019 creada por Laurie Nunn. Está ambientada en Moordale, el lugar ficticio dónde conviven una serie de personajes, tanto adultos como adolescentes, con problemas en su vida cotidiana, muchos de los cuales son sexuales.
Tiene tres temporadas en total, cada una cuenta con 8 episodios y al parecer saldrá una cuarta, aunque desconozco en qué fecha. He leído que quizá esté lista para finales de este año, ojalá que sea así, porque la tercera dejó muchas preguntas e intriga.
En su reparto actoral tenemos al talentoso Asa Butterfield interpretando a Otis Milburn, el protagonista de esta serie junto con Gillian Anderson, Emma Mackey, Ncuti Gatwa, Connor Swindells y Aimee Lou Wood.
Pese a que tiene muchos más personajes, podemos echar un vistazo a cada uno de ellos en esta serie, porque se enfocan en mostrarnos parte de sus vidas, sin olvidarse de unos o de otros, lo cual hace que sea súper interesante y entretenida.

Sex Education is a 2019 series created by Laurie Nunn. It is set in Moordale, the fictional place where a series of characters, both adults and teenagers, live together with problems in their daily lives, many of which are sexual.
It has three seasons in total, each one has 8 episodes and apparently a fourth one will be released, although I don't know when. I've read that it may be ready by the end of this year, hopefully it will be, because the third one left a lot of questions and intrigue.

De qué trata // What it is about
Otis Milburn es un adolescente que sabe mucho acerca de sexualidad, quizá porque desde su infancia está involucrado con el tema, ya que su madre, Jean Milburn, es terapeuta sexual.
Debido a sus conocimientos le ofrecen establecer una especie de «clínica sexual» en el colegio, y deja de lado el cuestionarse si esto es lo correcto para llevar a cabo la empresa, ya que quiere estar cerca de Maeve Wiley, la chica que le gusta.
Sin embargo, esto no quiere decir que su vida sexual esté resuelta, pues tiene ciertos problemas que involucran este asunto y a pesar de que logra ayudar a los demás, parece una tarea bastante complicada ayudarse a sí mismo.
Otis Milburn is a teenager who knows a lot about sexuality, perhaps because he has been involved with the subject since childhood, as his mother, Jean Milburn, is a sex therapist.
Because of his knowledge he is offered to set up a sort of "sex clinic" at the school, and he puts aside questioning whether this is the right thing to do to carry out the venture, as he wants to be close to Maeve Wiley, the girl he likes.
However, this does not mean that his sex life is solved, as he has certain problems involving this issue and although he manages to help others, it seems a rather complicated task to help himself.

No sé que fue lo que me atrapó de esta serie, había comenzado a verla con poca fe y de pronto ya no podía parar de mirarla, involucrada por completo en este mundo de adolescentes con dramas y complicaciones sexuales.
Tanto así que no pude distinguir una temporada de otra, porque la vi de tirón, sin prestarle atención al número de los episodios que me llevaban al irremediable final de esta serie.
Recuerdo que en ese momento tenía problemas con el internet y era desastroso tener que esperar que estuviera aceptable para ver un episodio más, por lo que tardé mis días en acabarla. Aún así, estaba completamente atrapada.
En parte, creo que fue por la comedia extraña y hasta asquerosa que tiene esta serie. Tenía tiempo sin reír a carcajadas viendo alguna producción, pero admito que no a todo el mundo le gustará este tipo de comedia.
Creo que este es un punto fuerte de la obra, un modo más relajado de llevar las situaciones que retratan en la trama, pues muchas veces son cosas de sensibles o serias.
I don't know what grabbed me about this series, I had started watching it with little faith and suddenly I couldn't stop watching it, completely involved in this world of teenagers with dramas and sexual complications.
So much so that I could not distinguish one season from another, because I watched it all at once, without paying attention to the number of episodes that led me to the irremediable end of this series.
I remember at the time I was having internet problems and it was disastrous to have to wait for it to be acceptable to watch one more episode, so it took my days to finish it. Still, I was completely caught up.
In part, I think it was because of the bizarre and even disgusting comedy that this series has. I hadn't laughed out loud in a while watching any production, but I admit that not everyone will like this type of comedy.
I think this is a strong point of the work, a more relaxed way of handling the situations portrayed in the plot, because many times they are sensitive or serious.
No puedo decir que todos los personajes sean los más realistas del mundo, pero muchos de sus problemas sexuales sí que lo son, y aunque no profundizan demasiado en cada cosa, creo que sí lo suficiente para concientizar al espectador.
Estoy segura de que muchas personas tienen tabúes o desinformación acerca de algún tema sexual, incluso curiosidad que no es saciada por la delicadez que rodea el tema del sexo, así que esta serie podría ser reveladora para muchos.
Es posible que después de ver algo que llame la atención en esta trama las personas sean conducidas a buscar información, una de las cosas positivas que tiene esta producción.
No creo que sea tan sencillo resolver algunos problemas sexuales como lo muestran en esta historia, no siempre basta uno o dos días para que todos sepan o estén felices con sus vidas, en la vida real todo es más complicado. Sin embargo, estos problemas o sus resoluciones no están allí en vano.
Esta es una manera más fresca y llevadera de abordar ciertos temas, y aunque los toquen por la superficie calan hondo. Que tenga su toque de comedia, de drama y hasta de vulgaridad hace que todo sea más interesante y entretenido de ver, pues aunque sea una serie más reflexiva de lo que parece de igual modo su fin es entretener.
Está llena de historias simples, clichés, tontas, pero muchas de estas historias tienen su trasfondo, desde los complejos, la inseguridad, los traumas hasta las decisiones guiadas por las cuestiones morales de la vida.
I can't say that all the characters are the most realistic in the world, but many of their sexual problems are, and while they don't go too deep into every single thing, I think they go deep enough to make the viewer aware.
I'm sure many people have taboos or misinformation about some sexual topic, even curiosity that is not quenched by the delicacy surrounding the subject of sex, so this series could be eye-opening for many.
It is possible that after seeing something that catches the attention in this plot, people will be driven to look for information, one of the positive things that this production has.
I don't think it is as simple to solve some sexual problems as they show in this story, it is not always enough one or two days for everyone to know or be happy with their lives, in real life everything is more complicated. However, these problems or their resolutions are not there in vain.
This is a fresher and more bearable way of approaching certain topics, and although they touch them on the surface, they go deep. The fact that it has a touch of comedy, drama and even vulgarity makes everything more interesting and entertaining to watch, because although it is a more reflective series than it seems, its purpose is to entertain.
It is full of simple, cliché, silly stories, but many of these stories have their background, from complexes, insecurity, traumas to decisions guided by the moral issues of life.
Algo que me pareció muy interesante es que pese a que Jean Milburn es una profesional en terapia sexual y una mujer que ha ayudado considerablemente a todos sus pacientes, fuera de ese rol tiene cierto descontrol en su vida. Parece saber lo que quiere respecto a los hombres o sus relaciones personales, y sin embargo, sus decisiones o acciones no dicen lo mismo.
Esta mujer comete errores que la llevan a situaciones no previstas, y a veces hace cosas indebidas como meterse demasiado en la privacidad de su hijo, lo que le genera ciertos problemas que podrían considerarse un trauma, cosa que ha impedido que inicie su vida sexual de forma normal.
Sin duda resulta extraño que una persona tan consciente cometa ciertos errores, o que Otis tenga problemas en su sexualidad siendo hijo de una terapeuta que se encarga de estos temas.
Todo esto lo menciono porque conducen a él, el protagonista de esta serie, que sin tener experiencia sexual (pero sí conocimiento) aconseja y logra ayudar a muchos en su colegio, algo que resulta algo irónico, aunque no imposible. Y, sin ser experto como su madre, parece tener un poco más de claridad respecto a lo que quiere, aunque no muchas veces actúe de acuerdo a eso.
Creo que esta serie le abriría los ojos a muchas personas que creen que por tener experiencia sexual de años lo saben todo y estimularía su curiosidad, llevándolos a aprender sobre ciertos asuntos.
Puede parecer que todo en esta producción es sexo y más sexo (aunque por algo su nombre) pero el sexo tiene un motivo de ser, y repercute de forma positiva o negativa en la historia de estos personajes.
Something that I found very interesting is that although Jean Milburn is a sex therapy professional and a woman who has helped all of her patients considerably, outside of that role she has a certain lack of control in her life. She seems to know what she wants regarding men or her personal relationships, and yet her decisions or actions do not say the same.
This woman makes mistakes that lead her to unforeseen situations, and sometimes she does improper things like getting too much into her son's privacy, which generates certain problems that could be considered a trauma, something that has prevented her from starting her sex life in a normal way.
It is certainly strange that such a conscientious person would make certain mistakes, or that Otis would have problems with his sexuality as the son of a therapist who deals with these issues.
All this I mention because they lead to him, the protagonist of this series, who without having sexual experience (but knowledge) advises and manages to help many in his school, something that is somewhat ironic, though not impossible. And, without being an expert like his mother, he seems to have a little more clarity about what he wants, even if he doesn't often act on it.
I think this series would open the eyes of many people who think that because they have years of sexual experience they know everything and would stimulate their curiosity, leading them to learn about certain issues.

Podemos ver, por ejemplo, cuán infeliz es un chico que reprime su verdadera orientación sexual, y cómo esto se manifiesta en su incapacidad de tener relaciones con su novia.
Su padre, que no recibió apoyo ni cariño en la infancia, es un hombre frío, que no puede hablar sobre sus sentimientos, cosa que hace que su matrimonio se vea afectado por esto y por la falta de sexo, otra manera de comunicarse con la pareja, lo cual lo lleva a una situación en la que no quiere estar.
Este padre no le podría trasmitir nada bueno a su hijo, y es debido a él que el chico ha decidido ocultar su orientación sexual, algo que obviamente va a influir en su vida.
Estos personajes, aunque no son los más realistas, tienen una psicología más complicada de lo que parece, lo que nos lleva a reflexionar para poder entenderlos. Las consecuencias que vemos acá si que son realistas, el modo en que ciertas cosas repercuten en su vida.
Aparte de sexo esta serie trata problemas serios, como traumas, y problemas dignos de adolescentes que ellos consideran como el fin del mundo y que quizá hemos vivido en alguna ocasión, que están para entretener y algo más.
Creo que uno de los fines de esta producción es que las personas se concienticen y hasta se sientan identificados, que conecten con estos personajes, una manera de decir «no estás solo», «no estás exagerando», «no eres raro por ser diferente».

Apart from sex, this series deals with serious problems, such as trauma, and problems worthy of teenagers that they consider to be the end of the world and that we may have experienced on some occasion, which are there to entertain and something more.
I think one of the purposes of this production is to make people aware and even feel identified, to connect with these characters, a way of saying "you are not alone", "you are not exaggerating", "you are not weird for being different".
No por nada podemos ver cómo incluyen por ejemplo un abuso sexual en el autobús que puede parecer normal o sin importancia y que sin embargo afecta la vida del personaje que lo sufre. No por nada vemos ataques homofóbicos a un chico que no está haciendo nada malo o los traumas que ocasionan a veces la propia familia. La falta de entendimiento hacia las personas que tienen una orientación sexual diferente, y un sinfín de cosas más.
Muchas veces creemos que por tratarse de adolescentes están exagerando, pero no es así, y aquí está retratado muy bien esto. Me agradó que buscaran tener un gran alcance en los espectadores, que muchos de ellos se sintieran identificados o apoyados. ¿Es forzada esta inclusión? Realmente no lo sé, si lo hicieron por vender más o no, pero es algo que muchos agradecerán.
Sin embargo, no puedo saber con certeza lo último que acabo de decir, pues no me identifiqué con todos los personajes y no sé si de pronto alguno esté retratado mal o resulte insultante para ciertas personas. A mí me pareció que lo hicieron bien y sin ánimos de ofender a nadie.
Todos estos para mí son motivos suficientes para verla, aunque hay algunas otras cosas que me gustaron, como las músicas utilizadas en esta serie. Son muchas, y todas, o la mayoría, geniales.
Me agradó que contaran la historia de la mayoría de los personajes presentados, que no se enfocaran solo en los dos protagonistas, como si solo ellos existieran en el planeta y que el "relleno" tuviera un fin, que lo aprovecharan.
De igual modo era algo inesperado los giros que dan todos los personajes, aunque no salidos de la nada, pues a veces nos insinúan cosas. Es bastante fácil que esta serie pronto te tenga pensando con quién quieres que se quede un personaje, o preguntándote cómo aquel puede ser tan tonto para no ver lo que está frente a sus narices, o sintiendo empatía por los que al principio te caían mal.
Not for nothing can we see how they include for example a sexual abuse on the bus that may seem normal or unimportant and yet affects the life of the character who suffers it. It is not for nothing that we see homophobic attacks on a boy who is not doing anything wrong or the traumas that sometimes cause the family itself. The lack of understanding towards people who have a different sexual orientation, and countless other things.
Many times we think that because they are teenagers they are exaggerating, but that is not the case, and this is portrayed very well here. I was pleased that they sought to have a great reach in the viewers, that many of them felt identified or supported. Is this inclusion forced? I really don't know, whether they did it to sell more or not, but it is something that many will appreciate.
However, I can't know for sure what I just said, because I didn't identify with all the characters and I don't know if any of them are portrayed badly or are insulting to some people. It seemed to me that they did it well and without offending anyone.
All these for me are enough reasons to watch it, although there are some other things that I liked, such as the music used in this series. There are many, and all of them, or most of them, great.
I liked that they told the story of most of the characters presented, that they didn't focus only on the two main characters, as if only they existed on the planet and that the "filler" had a purpose, that they took advantage of it.
Likewise, the twists and turns that all the characters take were somewhat unexpected, though not out of nowhere, as they sometimes hint at things. It's pretty easy for this series to soon have you wondering who you want a character to stay with, or wondering how that one could be so dumb not to see what's right under his nose, or feeling empathy for those you disliked at first.
Sí, como si vieras una telenovela. Por eso es que la considero una serie tan atrapante, porque mezcla muchos elementos, de risa o no, con giros inesperados o necesarios, con información valiosa o estimulante, con escenas clichés o delicadas, y todo esto funciona muy bien.
Todo esto junto crea algo divertido, entretenido y emotivo que ver. En conclusión, debo decir que esta serie no es para todo el mundo, pero que a mí me agradó bastante.
Sí hubo cosas que me exasperaron, como el hecho de que a Maybe siempre le tengan que pasar cosas malas en momentos buenos, o que ciertos personajes se junten con otros, sin admitir lo que sienten. Pero dejando eso de lado, y sin cuestionarse si algunas cosas son creíbles o no, es bastante fácil olvidarse de todo eso.
A veces está llena de momentos exagerados, situaciones absurdas o una comedia rara, pero esto es parte de lo que la hace atractiva, a mi modo de ver.
Los actores lo hicieron muy bien, y algo interesante es que decidieron incluir en esta producción a personas muy variadas y diferentes entre sí, en el aspecto físico. Vemos gente «normal», no súper modelos de cuerpo y rostros perfectos, lo que también ayuda a que los espectadores se sientan identificados.
De igual modo hay escenas que son extrañamente locas, pero que son posibles, solo que nadie se había atrevido a hacer ese tipo de cosas por considerarlas menos atractivas que otras. Esto sí le da un toque de realismo a la vida del adolescente o a la vida escolar.
No es mi tipo de serie, ni siquiera incluye los géneros que a mí me gustan, y aún así, me ha gustado mucho más que algunas que sí entran en "mis gustos". Así que, ¿Una serie más de adolescentes? Creo que ya he respondido a esta pregunta.
No me arrepiento de haberla visto aquel día, y sin duda quiero que salga la cuarta temporada pronto, para saber qué va a ser de la vida de estos personajes.

Yes, as if you were watching a soap opera. That's why I consider it such a catching series, because it mixes many elements, laughable or not, with unexpected or necessary twists, with valuable or stimulating information, with cliché or delicate scenes, and all this works very well.
All of this together creates something fun, entertaining and emotional to watch. In conclusion, I have to say that this series is not for everyone, but I liked it quite a bit.
Yes there were things that exasperated me, like the fact that Maybe always has to have bad things happen to him in good times, or that certain characters get together with others, without admitting what they feel. But leaving that aside, and without questioning whether some things are believable or not, it's pretty easy to forget all that.
At times it is full of over-the-top moments, absurd situations or weird comedy, but this is part of what makes it appealing, in my opinion.
The actors did very well, and something interesting is that they decided to include in this production people who are very varied and different from each other, in the physical aspect. We see "normal" people, not super models with perfect bodies and faces, which also helps viewers to identify with them.
Similarly, there are scenes that are strangely crazy, but which are possible, only that no one had dared to do that kind of thing because they were considered less attractive than others. This does add a touch of realism to teenage or school life.

I don't regret watching it that day, and I definitely want the fourth season to come out soon, to find out what will become of these characters' lives.
