En algunos países existen reinos actualmente, siempre me llamó la atención una princesa en específico, aunque no fuese como en los cuentos de hadas se trató de una mujer llena de valentía y sencillez, en el año 2022 se publicó un documental titulado “La princesa” la vida de Laidy Di, con una duración de 109 minutos. Narra la vida de la Princesa de Gales y su recorrido por la familia real hasta el momento de su muerte, en cuanto a esto existen muchas versiones.

Some countries still have monarchies today, and one specific princess always caught my attention; although her story was not like a fairy tale, she was a woman of great courage and humility. In 2022, a 109-minute documentary titled The Princess—chronicling the life of Lady Di—was released. It recounts the life of the Princess of Wales and her journey within the royal family up to the moment of her death—an event surrounding which many different versions of the story exist.

Lo primero que pude darme cuenta es que su mirada era tímida, se veía como una mujer muy elegante, pero a la vez sencilla, si bien es cierto existían ciertas normas que ella debía cumplir dentro de la realeza pero en muchas ocasiones las desafió, siento que ella quería ser auténtica y esa parte generó un choque por las acciones que realizaba como por ejemplo las ayudas benéficas a las familias, niños de bajos recursos y personas con ciertas enfermedades como VIH. Esto hace hablar muy bien de una reina, y no todos están dispuestos de buena forma.

The first thing I noticed was her shy gaze; she appeared to be a very elegant yet down-to-earth woman. While there were certainly royal protocols she was expected to follow, she often defied them; I feel she wanted to be authentic, and that aspect caused friction due to the actions she took—such as providing aid to families, underprivileged children, and people suffering from illnesses like HIV. Such actions speak volumes about a queen, and not everyone is willing to embrace them so positively.

En el documental también se muestra parte de su vida junto al príncipe Carlos, aunque a simple vista para mí parecía un amor fingido o por obligación, en cambio ella se notaba segura y auténtica, siempre fue muy cercana a las personas y admirada por ellas, generando un reconocimiento también a nivel internacional, una de las cosas que más me gustaba como mujer era su elegancia, pienso que se mantuvo fiel a sus valores y principios a pesar de la presión por parte de las normas de la realeza.

The documentary also shows glimpses of her life with Prince Charles; while to me it initially appeared to be a romance that was feigned or born of obligation, she herself came across as confident and authentic. She was always very close to people and widely admired, earning international recognition. As a woman, one of the things I most appreciated about her was her elegance; I believe she remained true to her values ​​and principles despite the pressure imposed by royal protocols.

En definitiva es un buen documental donde nos muestra parte de su vida pero también una parte triste para quienes la seguían, para mí no solo fue un icono mundial de belleza si no también un ejemplo de humanidad y solidaridad por los más necesitados, ante un sistema lleno de reglas e imposiciones que no te dejan ser quien eres realmente.

Ultimately, it is a good documentary that shows us a part of her life—though also a sad side for those who followed her. To me, she was not only a global icon of beauty but also an example of humanity and solidarity with the most needy, standing up against a system full of rules and impositions that prevent you from being who you truly are.
