Today again, we're diving into a movie titled Brotherhood. A very interesting, action-filled, and amazing movie. If follows the story of two brothers named Akin and Wake. They both lost their parents at a very young age; as a matter of fact, they witnessed how their parents were murdered. And with this, they were left to live their lives without guidance at all, and because they needed to survive, they both made different choices, one that took them into a different path/profession.
Wale grew up to be a police officer; yeah, he became an officer of the law, while Akin, on the other hand, grew up into a very notorious criminal. And even though they both find themselves on the different sides of the law, there's still this connection between them, even though it's complicated.
And as you would have rightly guessed, there will definitely be a situation where they would get to meet. Well, it happened because Akin was doing very great operations, like carrying out highly dangerous robberies and attacking bullion vans, as a lot of big robbery operations alerted and attracted the law enforcement agents to them. And Wale happens to be one of those in the special forces; he has to do his job as a law enforcement agent, knowing fully well that the criminal they're after is his own blood brother. It was a test of brotherhood because it later became known that Wale is connected/related to Akin, the criminal.
You don't need to ask me if I enjoy this movie because I really did. I just love the idea behind it and the storyline; it makes perfect sense, and it's something you can imagine or relate to. Two brothers, both trying their different ways to survive in this cruel world and at the end of the day ending up on the opposite sides.
Another thing I love and admire so much is the production quality of the movie; nah, whoever is in charge of that production deserves an award. They presented the movie so well and in a great light. The action, camera, sound, locations, and all were just the best and perfect fit. You can't compare this movie to your regular kind of Nollywood movie. It's obvious they made serious efforts to make sure the movie came out well.
Tobi Bakare acted as Akin, the notorious criminal, but then he acted it so well. I love the way he carried himself, I love his toughness, and I even find myself looking out for him even though he chose a wrong path. And the reason is that I understand where he's coming from; he could have chosen a different and good path like his brother. Even though I didn't agree with his choice, I was still rooting for him.
And Falz acted as Wale, the police officer. I love his character too, though, especially because Falz is a musician, very good at that, and now having to see him acting his something I was so interested in.
And the movie, for me, I felt, was so focused on the robbery and action part much more than it focused on the relationship between the two brothers, which is supposed to be the main thing of the movie. The part where they confronted each other didn't feel too deep, as it should be either. Also, the gang leader shouldn't just appear tough; he should be really tough, like he should carry it about and make people feel scared anywhere he appears, but then, it wasn't done so well. Furthermore, some of the robbery operations they carried out aren't well detailed; we just seem to know them doing things we don't really know how they came about the information they had, and even how they planned the robberies too.
Even still, Brotherhood is an amazing movie. A must watch.
