I watched this movie sometimes ago and I can't help but be reminded of it especially as it explores around a corp member being posted to a school. I just completed my one year of service too in a village, so her story and the movie are ones I can very well relate to.
This movie is another blockbuster from Bimbo Ademoye. Yeah, she acted as Miss PJ. And the movie as well is titled Miss P.J.
Miss PJ is the story of a Corp member being posted to a school in a rural area. She was given a secondary school class to learn the English language. And on getting there, she saw how scanty the school and her class were. And believe me, Miss PJ tried. She began to ask of each of the students who are not around and why they're not around. She didn't just stop there; she went as far as visiting them one after the other and encouraging each one of them to return to school. You know it is a rural area, and what they value more is farming and the likes.
She did that and succeeded, then suddenly strange things began to take place in the community she's serving in. Girls began to die in mysterious ways. Even though Miss PJ was scared, still she was curious to know what exactly was happening and why the female children were all dying mysteriously, especially when one of her most loved students died.
And trust me, she put her life not just on the line but also in danger, and she began to dig and go deeper into what's causing the deaths of teen girls. Well, trust Bimbo Ademoye (Miss PJ) to uncover the truth. She did and got to know that it was a man in the village who's desperate to become king that was killing and using those girls for rituals.
The movie is a very interesting and touching one. I love Miss PJ's spirit. She just couldn't keep quiet and watch as things were going wrong. She stood up and took steps to uncover the truth.
I love this movie's storyline. Like I said earlier, I just finished serving as a Corp member too, so having to see a movie that's about the story of a Corp member in a rural area really caught my attention. It's different and not the usual and regular kind of Corpers movie I often see.
Bimbo Ademoye did well as Miss PJ. Yeah, I can give her a solid 90/100. That lady is damn good, filled with action, and all that you need in an actor. She's the type who cared about the students, wants the best for them, stopped her fellow corp member from molesting, harassing, and taking advantage of them, and did her best to always talk to them. Especially Labisi; that was why her death pained her, and she refused to back down from knowing the cause of her death.
Charles Okocha also acted in that movie; he did try, though. He's not just a good actor to me.
There's Shola Shobowale too; that woman is good. No doubt about that; she's one of the few actors I really want to see in real life. That aside, she killed her character as the school's principal. She's known to be a good and loving woman, but she also has her other side that's unknown to everyone. You just have to watch this movie to really grasp what I'm saying.
Also, I loved how the killings were uncovered, especially how that it was connected to a ritual where the man in question was told to provide seven virgin ladies so he could be powerful and make it to the throne. I loved that part; assuming their deaths were connected to something not that serious and dark, I would have felt bad.
Also, when this girls began to die, there isn't much of a drama in the community, I guess the movie flopped there. Yeah, I'm expecting a good and loud uproar in the community, especially after the first happened. Also, the movie tried to bring in some sort of suspense as we didn't know what was killing those girls, as the various evidence was pointing to different people.
Now the ending... It's too simple for me. Miss PJ had done and did so well for the movie to just end like that. It was too rushed. Nothing dramatic really happened after she uncovered the truth. Even still, I like the idea behind the movie. I love how it explores around girls and the need to protect them from being exploited and all that.
An interesting movie, I must say...
