Today, we're reviewing a movie titled "The Tomorrow War." Yeah, just as the title implies, it is not a war of the present but a war of the future being fought today. Looks confusing, right? Don't worry; let's talk about it. The storyline started off during a football match, which everyone is watching and waiting for a team to score in. Suddenly, some people appeared on the football field in a not-so-normal/natural way; they're humans, and they claim to have come from the future, from the year 2051. Well, the message they came with is one already affecting the future and would, if not contained, affect the present too, in the sense that the whole of humanity will get wiped off in 30 years' time.
And that is where Dan Forester came in, a biology teacher who was once a military man. And because of how much those in the future needed help, they began to recruit civilians to send into the future so they could help fight and curb the happenings. Dan Forester, amongst many others, also got recruited with them. His wife and wife didn't want him to go, though, but he just had to, with a promise that he's definitely coming back. And that was how he went to the future together with some citizens; on getting there, they found out that the future is almost destroyed and that the situation is far worse than they imagined. They had to fight aliens; those aliens are referred to as Whitespikes, and they aren't that easy to kill. The worst part is that they are uncountable.
Along the line, while still in the future, he found out that the military commander who's also in charge of finding a toxin of sorts that can help wipe out this alien is his daughter. I mean, the daughter he left in the present together with his wife is now a lead researcher and military personnel in the future that he's in now. And that was how things became even more personal. Together, they fought and tried to find a solution to it. At long last, they got the toxin at the last minute. Meanwhile, those who were sent to the future have the maximum number of days they can spend there; they will automatically be taken back to the present, at least if they're still alive. Well, that was what happened; his daughter in the future lost her life right before his eyes, and it was in that instant that his time elapsed. He and the few others who were lucky to be alive found themselves in the present day.
He returned to the present world together with the toxin, and that was how he thought it best to find something to do. Those aliens are here already, and they need to find them and neutralize them now, or else they will still come find them in a few years. He seek for help from few people and told them, but they wouldn't see any sense in it, so he reached out to his friends while they survived the future together, he also reached out to his estranged father, and together they found a way to change and save the future of humanity.
This movie is a very interesting one; I love the entire concept of the movie. That idea of going from the present to fight a future war is interesting, and it wasn't as if they wasted time at all. It was business all through. Also, the Whitespikes, too, are very terrifying and frightening creatures. The movie is action-packed, and I must confess, I was satisfied.
Chris Pratt actually acted as Dan Forester, and I love it. I love watching any movie he starred in, and I'm glad he didn't disappoint me in this too. And I love the emotions being shown in the movie too, I mean, between Dan Forester and his daughter, Muri Forester.
I actually cannot pinpoint something I find odd in the movie; the actors killed their roles, the settings, the aliens, and the action scenes, and all were top-notch. And even though it was a two-hour-plus movie, I didn't really feel it; I was glued to the screen all through.
An interesting, action-filled, and amazing movie, I must say.
