Sometimes I make a film wait a long time on my list, unfortunately, and I do not know the reason, the ones I take a long time to see are the best. I waited two years to see Hell or High Water, I do not know why I waited so long to do it, they recommended it to me several times and I never saw it, until now, that I have finally done it, and I must say that I am very satisfied, it is the best I've seen in months, or maybe in the last year, that's why today I'll talk about it.

Plot
Two brothers start the morning by robbing bank branches with the goal of getting the money they need to pay a debt and maintain the family ranch.

Opinion
Toby Howard, a divorced man with two children, finds himself in a very difficult economic situation, owes money to his ex-wife concerning spousal support, and because his mother became ill and died after a long process he was in need of a reverse mortgage on his ranch, which was provided by the Texas Midlands Bank, a bank with branches exclusively in Texas, so if the debt is not canceled in a few days the ranch will be foreclosure.
However, Toby plans to rob with the help of his brother Tanner, who was in prison before, several branches of the Texas Midlands Bank during the first hour of the morning. Everything seems very well planned, however, the unpredictable and imprudent behavior of Tanner will complicate matters, in addition, Marcus Hamilton, a Texas Ranger with a lot of experience and with problems to retire, along with his partner Alberto Parker will be assigned to the case and will try stop them.
Well, what can I say? the film is perfect for me. The direction work is sublime, the images we see on the screen, the cameras angle, the shots, in conclusion, all the staging is done very well, I can not criticize anything. I had not seen any of the director's work before and I have not seen another yet, David Mackenzie gave me an unbeatable first impression, I hope to see more of his works soon.
The performances are brilliant, Jeff Bridges does a magnificent job, his dialogues have a lot of gallows humor, while Gil Birmingham, who plays his partner, is the perfect ally, between the two create a very charismatic Texas Rangers duo with whom it is impossible not to sympathize. On the other hand,Chris Pine, who acted in a film that I have commented previously, Z for Zachariah, I had seen him in different movies and had never done anything that I liked, however, this time he really surprised me, made a very good work, in a certain way what motivates the whole plot is his character and he manages to convince us with his performance. Ben Foster acting as the misguided brother makes an excellent performance, not only convinces us but also makes his character very charismatic despite his criminal nature.
The script of the film is very good I can not criticize anything, each character has his personal motivation, nothing seems forced, everything fits perfectly, the emotions, the characters motivations, the way in which the story unfolds and the events that compose it, everything is in place, and it is narrated with a work of direction that manages to capture the established in the script in an unbeatable way and with a blunt realism.
I really wish more stories were told in this way. The Western is one of my favorite genres, and this time the writers and the director brought us a story of this genre but moved to modern times, as did the Coen brothers with No Country for Old Men, and this for me is even better. My favorite TV series is Breaking Bad and it's a series that belongs precisely to this genre.
The story contains potentially a lot of material to reflect on different topics, making you wonder who is robbing whom, keeping a critique of the financial and political system, and mixing it with the process of conquest, domination and assimilation that exists when one people conquers another, even, comparing the means by which they do it. All that transmitted and shown on screen with a very well-made aesthetic and beautiful images.
I saw the film two days ago but I really intend to see it again and I will not wait long to do it.

10/10
If I do not give the maximum rating to this film even with how much I liked it, I feel I will never give it to any other, for that reason I do it, and if you have not done it yet I recommend you to see it fervently, it will not disappoint you.
