Reviewing the filmography of Jennifer Lawrence I found myself surprisingly with a film that belonged to a style in which we do not see high-level actors frequently participating, so I decided to watch it, and that's how I understood the reason why they do not usually participate in this kind of film.

Year: 2012 Category: Psychological Thriller. Director: Mark Tonderai. Cast: Jennifer Lawrence, Max Thieriot, Gil Bellows, Elisabeth Shue, Eva Link, Nolan Gerard Funk, Allie MacDonald.

Plot
Sarah has just divorced her husband and moved with her daughter, Elissa, to a house located in an idyllic neighborhood, however, in the nearest house, a double murder happened, where a little girl murdered her parents, and although her body was never found, the urban legend says that she is still in the vicinity.

Opinion
Elissa and her mother Sarah seek to start a new life after divorce, so they move to a quiet town in Pennsylvania, where they manage to buy a house at an affordable price because a horrible double murder occurred nearby, propitiated by a girl who murdered her parents and then disappeared. Then, Elissa and Sarah socialize with the neighbors, discovering that the house where the murder occurred is not abandoned, but there lives Ryan, the only member of the family who survived because he was not in the house at the time of the crime.
Elissa, who has a tendency to be attracted to emotionally damaged people, decides to start a relationship with Ryan, who after what happened to his family, has been excluded from society by the townspeople, in fact, even Sarah does not see with good eyes the relationship that his daughter maintains with him. From that moment the film will go downhill, because the director decides to use all the existing cliches in this genre, and through manipulation tries to scare without success.
Apparently, the directors and scriptwriters decided to build the whole story based on two twists in the script, so sometimes the film will reveal that the reality of the situation is not exactly how the viewer perceives it until that moment. And although this, perhaps, can be seen as something negative by some people, it is a mechanism that is appreciated to make the film a bit more entertaining.
When the film is near the end, begins to abuse flashbacks to tie all the loose ends, and although it is true that this resource is often used to give dynamism to the story, does not mean that it is always used correctly and properly.
As for the performances, the only acceptable thing is the participation of Jennifer Lawrence, who apart from his inexplicable appearance in this type of film, is also below his usual level. The rest is simply dedicated to doing their job naturally, without degenerating into the pathetic, but without achieving anything formidable.

In short, the film becomes a predictable and generic product, and it wastes the opportunity to have the participation of an actress like Jennifer Lawrence to play a role in a film like this, which rarely has the chance to have important actors. My advice is to stay away from this house.
