Plot

An apocalypse becomes a blessing for a man, until a second survivor arrives with the threat of accompanying him.

Opinion

After an unspecified apocalypse the population is dead, and the only one who is alive now is Del, who spends his days cleaning the town where he lives, burying the corpses of the inhabitants, and putting in order the library in which he worked.

One day Del is awakened by fireworks during the night, and the next morning he discovers a car that crashed and was driven by a young girl named Grace, who is unconscious and to whom Del helps. When she wakes up, Del tries to prevent the girl from knowing that he is a dwarf, but fails, however, Grace's reaction was not the one expected by Del, and she asks him to stay and help him clean up the town.

This is how the relationship between the two begins, Del misses the new perception and lonely lifestyle he had acquired after the collapse, but in turn, also appreciates the presence of another person.

The film has a direction that is fine on the aesthetic level, but according to my perception it fails to find an adequate rhythm, everything is slow, it seems that nothing will ever happen, something that is confirmed by the script, which really is the big problem of this film, because the twist that introduces is insufficient, without mentioning that at all times the film is predictable, and when something that the spectator did not expect occurs, it quickly dissipates.

The performances are fine, Peter Dinklage and Elle Fanning are the reason why I watched the film, and I think they did everything they could do, their performances are the better of the movie, the only reason I would criticize them is because have taken a bad choice when defining the films in which they work.

In short, it is a slow film, in which nothing happens, that product of failures caused by a bad script and the insufficiency of the direction to solve that problem, becomes more drab than the routine of the main character, and that in spite of have good actors who do their job well, they have limitations that surpass them.

Regular direction, bad script, good performances, the work is from my perception absolutely unsatisfactory, I would not see it again and I would not recommend it to anyone, however, if you still want to see it I must say that at the time of publishing this review this film is available in the Netflix catalog for United Kingdom.
