Year: 2018 Category: Psychological Horror, Drama. Director: Assaf Bernstein. Cast: India Eisley, Mira Sorvino, Jason Isaacs, Penelope Mitchell, Harrison Gilbertson.

Plot

A lonely and shy student takes refuge in conversations with her reflection in the mirror in the absence of friends and support from her family. There she will find her evil twin, who will unleash repressed feelings.

Opinion

Maria Brennan, a high-class girl who has trouble interacting with schoolmates, her self-esteem is low, her father, a boor, is strict with her but in a very despicable way, while her mother remains totally submissive at the will of her husband. In addition, Lily, her only friend, constantly takes advantage of her passivity.

However, Maria discovers something that from the first moment of the film we already knew, she had a twin sister, which leads her to focus all her obsessions on an alter ego, Airam, that is, her inverted name, where she lets out her part that has repressed until this moment, unleashed, as is evident, a destructive behavior, now not only for itself, but for all whom she blames to harm her.

From the technical point of view, I can say that the film has some deficiencies, mainly in the script, which is totally predictable, the viewer knows what will happen next at every moment, there are no surprises, Assaf Bernstein, director and screenwriter, was commissioned to reveal it all the mysteries practically from the first moment, although not all his work was bad, I liked what he did with photography, not to mention that the staging, dark and cold, was perfect to create the climate that the plot required.

The best thing about the film is undoubtedly the acting work, India Eisley makes it great, although I consider that its physical characteristics were not the most precise to interpret the character we see in the first half of the film. On the other hand, the work of Jason Isaacs was very good, playing the father the protagonist. Mira Sorvino as the mother and Penelope Mitchell with the friend were perfect in their role, and finally, Harrison Gilbertson also does a convincing job.

It is a very light film, there is not much to analyze here, although I must say that I did not get bored while watching it, so it is easy to consume. Another characteristic of the film is that there are no good characters, all are detestable, and even the least bad are bad people.

I would not recommend that you make an effort to see this movie, but if one day you are changing channels on TV, and they are broadcasting it, you can see it as a way to kill time.
