If you’re a lover of mystery and horror movies, then you’ll definitely love to watch this movie. Weapons is a movie that makes you curious from the beginning of opening scene till the very end. Yeah, I’m not exaggerating. What I love about the movie is that each character has a different story, and each character story will give you another little piece of puzzle to think about. I love the fact that the movie is unpredictable, and I think that’s what kept the mystery alive.

Imagine 17 children from one classroom ran away from their home in a day at exactly 2:17 a.m., that’s too early for a child to be outside at that time. But there’s only one boy remaining named Alex. I kept wondering why the children ran away and why Alex is the only one who stayed behind.

The teacher of the missing children was Justine, she the one with them before the incident, so all the parents were suspecting that she’s responsible for their children disappearance. Personally, I can understand how those parents will feel without seeing their children, but honestly, I feel so bad for Justine, because everyone was blaming her. She too was trying to unravel the mystery behind the children disappearance. She even woke up one day and saw what someone wrote on her car, boldly written “WITCH.” She tried cleaning it, but the paint did not remove, she has to use the car like that. Justine situation made me understand how quickly people can turn against you, when they are searching for answers.

Justine was trying to unravel the mystery when he met Archer. Archer was the father of one of the boy who got missing. At first, he was suspicious of Justin too because she believed she knew what happened. He was confused and desperate to find his son, and his search for answers becomes another important part of the movie. As Archer begins his investigating, he got to realize that the situation is more complicated than he thought. Eventually, both Archer and Justin worked together in discovering what happened to the missing children.

The big shocker is when the missing children was traced to an old woman named Gladys. The old woman is part of Alex’s family. She’s a witch who has turned Alex parents into something else, they no longer behave like humans. Imagine a child getting home one day and saw that his parents are no longer okay the way he left them, they were just like dummies. Alex was traumatized with the whole situation. He would watch her own parents harming themselves, and that’s what Gladys used to create fear in him. She warned him not to tell anyone. She even used Alex to collect the things that belonged to those missing children, and that what she used in controlling them.

Gladys kept the missing children in her basement, and that’s one of the creepiest discoveries in the movie, because I thought they are gone forever, or probably unalive. They are not dead, Gladys kept them there to make her live longer. Well, you might think that Alex is not innocent, but I believe he’s just a child who was manipulated by Gladys, and was afraid to open up to anyone. Even Justin, her teacher, notice that Alex was behaving strangely, she confronted him, but he told Justin to leave him alone, then he ran away.

Back to Gladys, Gladys was basically turning people into weapons that she could control and use then against each other. Once she take what belong to you, she can use it to control or even kill the person. She nearly succeed in killing Justin, but was helped by Archer, and even Archer that saved Justin was also used as weapon to kill Justin too, but I’m glad he didn’t succeed. Gladys has been the responsible for all the strange things happening around the town.

I love the way the movie ended, because Alex was able to overcome his fear, he discovered that he can use Gladys magic against her. Alex carried out his plan and surprisingly, all the children turned against Gladys and tore her apart. The scene look satisfying and disturbing at the same time. It satisfying because Gladys actually deserves what she got. The movie gives me a bittersweet feeling, in the sense that Gladys was gone but the children were still traumatized, they could not even talk, including Alex.

This is the kind of movie you can finish watching and still find yourself thinking about the story afterwards. Some part of the movie were confusing, but you’ll still get along while watching.
