I watched a movie some years back and I saw a short clip from the movie, and it brings back Some of the memories from the movie, though I have forgotten some part of the movies , So, I have to watch it it again. You know , Some movie will remind you that love can make people do crazy things, That is actually what Stardust brings to the table. You can Imagine someone risking his life to retrieve a fallen star for a woman who does not really appreciate him. We have witches in the movie, princes murdering their own brothers, and we also have Robert De Niro playing a character nobody would expect. After watching this movie, Honestly, I cannot help but to appreciate how much imagination went into creating the movie. It’s bizarre but the adventure was entertaining.
Stardust was Released in 2007 and was directed by Matthew Vaughn . It was stared by Tristan Thorn (Charlie Cox). He’s a young man who promise Victoria (Sienna Miller), the woman he loves, that he will retrieve a fallen star for her. In the process of looking for the fallen star, he discover that the star he’s looking for is actually a woman of her own named Yvaine (Claire Danes), And somehow, that was only the beginning of the madness. 😀 And Another thing was that, Tristan was not the only person interested in finding her. A powerful wicked witch also wants her heart. There’s also a group of princes who are busy trying to eliminate one another for the sake of the throne.
First of all, I’m going to talk about Tristan and his romantic decisions. Like this guy is willing to cross a dangerous wall and enter an unfamiliar magical world just to impress Victoria. Watching him put all that effort to win her love made me wonder if he was really on love with her or maybe he’s just refusing to accept rejection. 😂 because as the movie progress, it makes me feel like he might be chasing the wrong woman. Personally, I found his kind situation amusing because he starts the journey thinking he know what he want, only for the adventure to show him something entirely different from what’s he’s planning.
Yvaine is also one of the characters I enjoyed watching. She is not the kind of helpless woman who will just waiting for Tristan to rescue her. She has her own opinions, she complains when things go wrong, and she not also afraid to challenge him when anything does not sit well with her. You know, Tristan have this kind habit of having to make decisions without considering how Yvaine will feel, this can test anybody patience. The constant disagreements they use to have also make their relationship feel more natural. And for me, I love how they build their relationship gradually, instead of it coming out of nowhere
Then we also have Michelle Pfeiffer’s (Lamia). She’s a witch who takes her beauty routine far beyond anything reasonable. Let’s not talk about expensive creams or skincare treatments here, like this woman wants to eat a star’s heart to restore her youth😂 , that’s crazy right. What makes her look more frightening was honestly because of how calm and elegant she always appears while planning something absolutely terrible. Every time she uses magic, she sacrifices some of her restored youth, which makes her even more desperate and this seems interesting to watch. Of course she’s dangerous, so manipulative, and certainly not someone I wish to meet on a lonely
I was also surprised by Captain Shakespeare (Robert De Niro) performance. You know, When you introduce a pirate captain with a flying ship you’ll expect a terrifying pirate captain commanding a flying ship. but instead, you get a funny character with a private side that somehow challenges everyone’s assumptions about him. His scenes brought some of the film’s most memorable humour, and honestly , I think the story becomes more entertaining whenever he appears.
On the other hand, the royal brothers are busy proving that having royal blood doesn’t automatically make someone intelligent. Their attitude does not suit royal blood, because they are always killing one another in other secure the throne, and the surviving brothers’ ghostly appearance to them turn their rivalry into an ongoing family argument that even death cannot end. Personally, I found the storyline entertaining because it adds humour to a the dangerous competition between them
However , some of the issues I have with Stardust is that the opening spends a bit of time introducing its world and setting up different storylines. And again, some parts of the story feel crowded. Personally, I would have preferred a little less exposition and more time developing some of the characters. But still, the adventure was entertaining.
Overall, Stardust is the kind of fantasy movie I can happily recommend to anyone who enjoys magic, adventure, romance, a good dose of comedy. And I also love how it balances all these things together without losing the charm that makes the movie special. Honestly, There’s so much to enjoy in the movie.
