«The Pope's exorcist» 📽️ [ING/ESP]

The biblical quote that has amazed me when mentioned in the film is the above, that while these productions tend to be constantly singled out by critics as "not credible", "blasphemous", "unnecessary", "fiction", "not based", or "of the devil", I like the religious underpinning they cling to in order to make sense of the actions.

La cita bíblica que me ha maravillado al ser mencionada en el film es la anterior, que si bien estas producciones tienden a estar constantemente señaladas por la crítica al no ser "creíbles", "blasfemas", "innecesarias", "ficción", "no basada", o "del diablo", me gusta el sustento religioso del que se aferran para darle sentido a las acciones.

Beyond being fiction or not, the stories must be supported by research, and one of the reasons why I like the style of Catholicism is that the writers and actors tend to soak themselves completely in trips to learn about the facts, rubbing with people close to the cases, and something important: reading the bible. Of course this is my point of view, but the fact that they read the bible I think is what allows them to let the belief or faith transcend the screen as the story is told.

Más allá de ser ficción o no, las historias deben estar sustentadas bajo una investigación, y una de las razones por las que me gusta el estilo del catolicismo, es que los escritores y actores suelen empaparse por completo en viajes para conocer sobre los hechos, rozarse con las personas cercanas a los casos, y algo importante: leer la biblia. Claro está que este es mi punto de vista, pero el hecho de que lean la biblia creo que es lo que les permite que la creencia o fe traspase la pantalla al ser contada la historia.

Giving exposure to religious themes can always lead you to a position where you have to defend or attack, in the end free will is what leads each person to believe in their own way. The Pope's Exorcist, being based on real life, denotes a great connection with the facts, it seems a good model of contextualization and interesting theories of some historical facts that today are of relevance. Its title is enough to captivate the viewer's attention and create noise in the mind.

Dar exposición a temas religiosos siempre puede llevarte a una posición en la que tienes que defenderte o atacar, al final el libre albedrío es lo que lleva a cada persona a creer a su manera. El exorcista del Papa, al ser basada en la vida real, denota una gran conexión con los hechos, parece una buena maqueta de contextualización e interesantes teorías de algunos hechos historicos que hoy día son de relevancia. Su título es suficiente para cautivar la atención del espectador y crear ruido en la mente.

I was very struck by the way he played the most popular exorcist: Gabriele Amorth. A refreshing and rare touch for that kind of character, that only he will know if he is well personified or not.

Me ha llamado mucho la atención la forma en la que Interpretó al exorcista más popular: Gabriele Amorth. Un toque refrescante y raro para ese tipo de personaje, que solo él sabrá si está bien personificado o no.

It is of obvious reasons that it is not a film for all audiences, first I would like to clarify that the appropriate age should be for those over 16, and especially for an audience little influenced by beliefs or fanaticism. I see the film more to teach that there is as much evil as good in what surrounds us, than in a religion itself.

Es de obvias razones que no es una película para todo tipo de público, primero me gustaría aclarar que la edad adecuada debería ser para mayores de 16, y sobre todo para un público poco influenciable respecto a creencias o fanatismos. La película la veo más para dar una enseñanza de que hay tanto mal como bien en lo que nos rodea, que en una religión en sí.

Keep in mind this detail if you get to give it a look, I remember some time ago I talked about The Exorcism of God, comparing both productions, this film is more interesting and well sustained, besides repeatable, the other, may well go to the forgettable zone.

Religion and faith are the pillar that supports the whole context of the film, plus the temptations and past mistakes that each one drags, a typical format of moral uncontrol that usually covers the popularity of the believer and those who believe them.

La religión y la fe son el pilar que sostiene todo el contexto de la película, más las tentaciones y los errores del pasado que cada uno arrastra, un típico formato de descontrol moral que suele cubrir la popularidad del creyente y quiénes les creen.

This film delves into the life of Father Amorth, the greatest exorcism priest that the Catholic Church has ever had. It tells the story of one of his strongest battles and the beginning of journeys into darker paths to which the term "places where God is not" is attributed. While this chapter of Amorth's life only opens the viewer's curiosity to the number of cases he had to deal with, it is also a presentation of all the unbelieving people he surely had to ignore or battle for years to be allowed to do his work.

Este film se adentra en la vida del padre Amorth, el mayor sacerdotista referente a exorcismos que la iglesia católica ha tenido. Cuenta la historia de una de sus batallas más fuerte y el comienzo de viajes a caminos más oscuros a los que se le atribuye el término de "lugares dónde Dios no está". Si bien este capítulo de la vida de Amorth solo abre la curiosidad al televidente de la cantidad de casos a los que tuvo que enfrentarse, también es una ponencia de todas las personas incrédulas a las seguramente tuvo que ignorar o batallar por años para que le permitieran cumplir con su labor.

The scene of him facing a small influential group that wants to remove him from his position because they do not believe that this type of evil exists is fascinating to me, since it is precisely the Catholic church that most promotes this type of events, it also represents the struggle they have to fulfill the wishes of another group of followers or non-believers who claim that doing "exorcisms" is not true and perhaps the biggest lie. I have always liked this kind of topics and I know first hand of people who have been in similar situations, and still choose not to believe, but I guess religion also has its touch of commerce, you have to get to the "places where they do not believe us".

La escena de él frente a un pequeño grupo influyente que quiere quitarle su cargo porque no creen que ese tipo de mal exista me parece fascinante, ya que es justamente la iglesia católica la que más promueve este tipo de eventos, también representa la lucha que tienen para cumplir los deseos de otro grupo de seguidores o no creyentes que afirman que hacer "exorcismos" no es verídico y quizás la mentira más grande. Este tipo de temas siempre me ha gustado y sé de primera mano de gente que ha estado frente a situaciones parecidas, y aún así decide no creer, pero supongo que la religión también tiene su toque de comercio, hay que llegar a los "lugares dónde no nos creen".

Of course, it is not an original theme, and it presents the same style of this kind of movies, which more than being repetitive, I feel it is a "respect" to what we are used to. The amount of situations during the course of the film that make the viewer tense is apprehensive, you can't help but think that it's a hilarious moment, but in a bad way.

Claro que no es un tema original, y presenta el mismo estilo de este tipo de películas, que más que ser repetitivo, siento que es un "respeto" a lo que nos tienen acostumbrados. La cantidad de situaciones durante el transcurso de la película que colocan al espectador tenso es aprensiva, a uno se le escapan palabrotas y lo único que puedes pensar es que un momento hilarante, pero en el mal sentido.

The plot follows a pretty good course, from the beginning we have what we come for, Latin phrases, possessions and death. The suspense work is creatively crafted, and the evil vibe seems to be a plus. The investigation, the mystery of what happens and the need to win but that seems to go down the drain is something very well worked, the resolution of the conflict maybe a little loose but interesting.

La trama sigue un transcurso bastante bueno, desde el inicio tenemos a por lo que venimos, frases en latín, posesiones y muerte. El trabajo del suspenso se elabora con creatividad, y la vibra maligna parece ser un plus a favor. La investigación, el misterio de qué sucede y la necesidad de ganar pero que parece irse al caño es algo muy bien trabajado, la resolución del conflicto quizás un poco floja pero interesante.

The characters had an excellent performance, and I expected nothing less. I would like to highlight the work of the smallest of the members, the child who lasts almost the entire plot possessed, but what he transmits is another level, and the teenager who has an exceptional scream for terror and a repertoire of very varied expressions that fit well to the scenes. The rest does a very good visual job, I liked the diversity of the nationalities and how each had their own focus on the story.

Los personajes tuvieron una excelente actuación, y no esperaba menos. Quisiera destacar el trabajo de los más pequeños de los integrantes, el niño que dura casi toda la trama poseído, pero lo que transmite es otro nivel, y la adolescencia que tiene un grito excepcional para el terror y un repertorio de expresiones muy variadas que se acoplan bien a las escenas. El resto hace un trabajo visual muy bueno, me gustó la diversidad de las nacionalidades y cómo cada uno tenía su propia atención en la historia.

They are believable and interesting, the typical mother who wants to help her children as much as possible but doubts strange situations no matter how much she sees them with her own eyes. Most would be like that, even the more religious ones, as it's not something you expect to happen to you. They all have a development, but the two main ones have a special closure.

Son creíbles e interesantes, la típica madre que quiere ayudar a sus hijos a cómo de posible pero que duda de las situaciones extrañas por más que las vea con sus propios ojos. La mayoría sería así, hasta los más religiosos, ya que no es algo que esperas que te suceda. Todos tienen un desarrollo, pero los dos principales tienen un cierre especial.

The exorcist Amorth and his partner Father Esquibel have a final development where they struggle with their own demons that makes them more relevant than the rest, as it works with their individual stories from the start. I liked the almost fantasy-like spiritual struggle where the blows are biblical quotes, because it alludes to the word of God as the weapon: "and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God" in Ephesians 6:16-18.

El exorcista Amorth y su compañero el padre Esquibel tienen un desarrollo final en dónde luchan con sus propios demonios que les hace ser más relevante que el resto, ya que se trabaja con sus historias individuales desde el inicio. Me gustó esa lucha espiritual casi fantasiosa en dónde los golpes son citas bíblicas, porque se hace alusión a qué la palabra de Dios es el arma: “y la espada del Espíritu que es la palabra de Dios” en Efesios 6:16-18.

It is certainly a film that has strong points, although it borders on the commonplace in others. However, I liked it enough to talk about it. I also like the last scene that seems a promise of more movies, it would be interesting a saga to fight The Warren Files.

Sin duda es una película que tiene puntos fuertes, aunque roza con lo común en otros. Sin embargo, me ha gustado lo suficiente como para hablar de ello. Me gusta también la última escena que parece una promesa de más películas, estaría interesante una saga que le haga pelea a Los expedientes Warren.

As I mentioned the style of direction is very similar to what fans of this genre and type of film are used to, although I must admit that there were more scenes with an obnoxious darkness that did not allow to perceive certain things well.

Directed by Australian Julius Avery who has a repertoire of interesting productions and written by Evan Spiliotopoulos and Michael Petroni, The Pope's Exorcist is proper, perhaps over the top but spectacular at the level of direction and events. It sins with some inconsistencies, that if we look for logic or answers, it would be a waste of time, but it fulfills its function: to be entertaining.

Dirigida por el australiano Julius Avery que tiene un repertorio de producciones interesantes y escrita por Evan Spiliotopoulos y Michael Petroni, El exorcista del Papa es propia, quizás exagerada pero espectacular a nivel de dirección y sucesos. Peca con algunas incoherencias, que si buscamos la lógica o las respuestas, sería perder el tiempo, pero cumple su función: ser entretenida.

The work of the dialogues are also a very important factor, they knew how to make the viewer feel close to the actions of the characters, and also feel empathy for their mistakes, the factor of stirring emotions is fulfilled, especially for those who are sensitive to family issues.

El trabajo de los diálogos también son una factor muy importante, supieron cómo hacer sentir cercano al espectador con las acciones de los personajes, y además, sentir empatía por sus errores, el factor de remover emociones lo cumplen, sobre todo para aquellos que son sensibles a temas familiares.

The plot is predictable, although it is pleasantly surprising when the exorcism does not have an expected process with some unexpected twists. I will note that Crowe's experience is what makes this film hypnotic, he gets so into the role that he brings out the laughs in the most tense moments, perhaps being loyal to the personality of the real Gabriele Amorth.

El argumento es previsible, aunque sorprende gratamente cuando el exorcismo no tiene un proceso esperado con algunos giros inesperados. Voy acotar que la experiencia de Crowe es lo que hace de esta película algo hipnótico, se mete tanto en el papel que saca risas en los momentos más tensas, quizás siendo leal a la personalidad del verdadero Gabriele Amorth.

The makeup is gorgeous, his work is admirable and stands out throughout the film, nothing was more impressive to me than the close-up shots of the possessed child. A very important plus for this kind of film.

El maquillaje es bellísimo, su trabajo es admirable y resalta durante toda la película, no hay nada que me haya provocado más impresionante que las tomas en primer plano del niño poseído. Un plus importantísimo para este tipo de films.

Now, the scenery, the environment and the shots, all evoke sensations and help to develop the plot, there is not much variation in the locations but the chosen one is really gloomy and more interesting thanks to the editing and the colors, a visual delight.

Ahora, la escenografía, el ambiente y las tomas, todas evocan sensaciones y ayudan a desarrollar la trama, no hay mucha variación en los lugares pero el escogido es realmente tétrico y más interesante gracias a la edición y los colores, un deleite visual.

I had the opportunity to watch the movie with @stypaternina and I am very grateful for that because I am one of the annoying ones that like to pause, repeat scenes and talk about certain things that I notice in the movie that are interesting, and he tolerates all of that, plus he also asks his questions and does not get bored by my way, I appreciate it a lot.

The movie we both liked, one thing that could have enhanced the experience and is a cardinal rule we skipped, is to watch the movie at night, the emotions should be altogether more magnificent. The movie is good, not the best, but I really liked its end result.

La película nos gustó a ambos, algo que pudo haber mejorado la experiencia y es una regla fundamental que nos saltamos, es ver la película de noche, las emociones deben ser totalmente más magníficas. La película es buena, no es la mejor, pero me ha gustado mucho su resultado final.

It's a bit predictable, enjoyable, it conveys emotions and you can empathize with the characters, I hope they continue the idea they left floating at the end. I'm glad to know that you used Gabriele's books to give more context to everything, it leaves the thorn to investigate more about that spiritual world that is a constant battle.
