South Korea has this fascination with zombie apocalypse movies and series as All of Us are Dead is it's latest one in the tradition of Train to Busan and Kingdom.
This one is set in a high school where several of the characters are classmates, friends, and even siblings.
Having a younger cast could be its aim to be watched by a younger demographic as well as several of them are good-looking and easy to catch the attention of both genders.
It touches on several topics like bullying, friendship, young love, sacrifice and how we often have to make difficult decisions.
It is a typical day in the school as several scenes show a slice of life of these different characters in a bid to make an emotional bond with them. This is often a ploy of these zombie movies as we get emotionally invested in a character only to see them die down the line.
The show also has several typical villains and they are effective as you really dislike them either for their behavior or the choices that they make.
While there are several moments that try to lighten the mood with some jokes and silly situations the overall mode is one of despair and hopelessness as they scramble for safety.
There is a major hype on the show and it has been trending in social media but more on how good-looking some of the young cast is. There is nothing groundbreaking as it is a typical zombie series. I think Kingdom is better but then I might not be it's intended demographic.
It is good to watch if there is nothing else but otherwise not really a must-see for me on Netflix.
Incidentally, during scenes for quarantine, it somehow evokes that same level of fear with Covid and I would often see parallels of how people, the government, and individuals reacted during the pandemic.
