Sometimes I like to see (what could be called) less stimulating movies. When that happens I usually turn the Tv off after an hour of explosions or giant robots. But every once in a while comes a movie that surprises you…

I had seen the poster for “2 Guns” before but never really paid much attention to it… it seemed like the kind of film I would not enjoy .

Last night I was looking for a “less stimulating film” (I only wanted to be mindless entertained for a bit before going to sleep) And I came across “2 Guns”. First thing that caught my attention was the fact that Denzel Washington starts in it. ( And Marky Mark) He is an actor that makes good choices vis a vis the films he works on. (As far as Action goes let’s give: “Man on Fire” and “Training Day” as examples)
The movie is directed by Baltasar Kormákur a Icelandic director and actor, that also made “Jar City” a classic Icelandic film.

And so... after this piece of information I stated watching the film. Immediately I was listening to some sweet music… which is usually a good sign. And it only got better as it went. I must say I was pleasantly surprised by the movie and what a rare and nice felling that is!
One of the things I loved the most was the fact that it was an actual story, meaning it develops and unfolds as it goes… I did not knew everything I was going to see within 5 minutes…
It had an excellent cast with good performances, I hadn't seen Bill Paxton in so long... but there he was... excellent as always. It was well executed, you can see the captain of the ship knows what he is doing and likes the material.
It has good action scenes and a story that keeps you interested in it. Now a days when originality is such a rare commodity in Hollywood , I can not help but fell very satisfied.

In short I would say that: “2 Guns” is a entertaining piece of cinema. It clearly surpassed my expectations. While it is not a master piece that will change the world it is a good movie. If you are looking for a good action, comedy, crime, police film this is a good option.
I didn't see the trailer before… and that probably helped my experience, since I really knew nothing about it. But here is the trailer if you want to see it.
