I finished “Making a Murderer season 2”
I had no idea they were making a part two of the thing. I mean, the first one is just as crazy as it gets.. and the ending is quite bleak and final… But no, the sage continues, adding to the level of insanity.
The show starts with Steven and the kid in prison… they’ve already “served” 12 years of the sentence… One nice thing about this part two is that the part one became a “character” in the film. The series was a huge success being the first mega-hit on Netflix, surely the first documentary to reach such a mass audience.
So now everyone knows about Avery’s story, hence we now have a totally different situation.
The film centers a lot around a new person, the Lawyer who’s defending Steven. She is incredibly smart and competent at her job. It is a delight to see her look at the case.
And the main action of the series is her trying to get Steven to have another court hearing and prove his innocence.
Talking about his innocence, even tough I thought he was innocent in the first season, I couldn’t be sure. I was sure that they framed him, but he still could have been involved in some way. The all thing was a bit strange… the girl had filmed herself talking about “if she dies soon” and so on… I was pretty sure he was innocent, but not 100% sure.
In this second series, it’s completely clear, positive and reliable that he didn’t do it.
His lawyer also analysis his trial and finds an enormous amount of legalities in the justice system…. And a lot of aspects we didn’t know… like key witnesses that were not permitted to testify… and many more.
Has far as the series itself… I must say it does not have the quality nor is it as captivating as the first one. Also, they took 10 years to make the first one and a couple to make this. It also repeats itself a bit… especially when it gets into the “family drama" of Steven’s parents. Like “They are very old and might die soon” and “They lost their business due to the case” we hear this a few times with some violin music…
Having said that, it’s still great, interesting and captivating in his own right.
And it really makes this situation way more insane than it already was.
One question that nobody is asking is why?… why was the girl killed?
How about you? Have you seen it? What do you think?
As always, thank you for reading.
