Hold onto your seats ladies and gentleman as we reentre the world of silence. Silence in order to remain alive from an alien invasion that no one even knows how it began. Although in Part II We get a bit more of a glimpse into it but still many unanswered questions.
The first movie was such an interesting development in film if you think about it, it's a movie with not much of a script but still manages to take us down a journey of fear and edge of your seats moments.
The first movie pulled off many cliff hangers with its use of emotion mainly focused at parents as one of the first people to die is the families young child who activate a toy rocket ship attracting an alien while the father is unable to reach in time to save.
The moment was such a powerful scene in the film and set the standards that this film wasn't going to be an easy watch and no one was off limits.
Part II continues the trend as more emotionally charged scenes around parenthood and family continue to be centre to it's story line. But there are also moments that don't make quite alot of sence. Like having your leg caught in a bear trap and being fine a few days later. Not sure how likely that would be and in the current collapsed world there wouldn't be much medical aid around.
I have to admit though that I expected abit more out of Part II and was a little let down. When we last left our cast in Part I they had developed a way to kill the monsters through the use of high frequency sound emitted by a tweaked hearing aid. So I was expecting a lot less running and alot more fight back. Perhaps a stand off on the farm or a rally of troops.
But unfortunately the team head off on another journey seeking another location with no real plan other than to reach another fire pit they see burning. We later find out that the other fire pit belonged to family friends but they never thought to head over to be in the same place. The film oddly explores this by asking the question and emmet says no.
We do get introduced to what is proposed to be Quiet Place III where our family finds an island as we learn the aliens can not swim. Despite this one alien manages to make it to the island and causes havoc but our family quickly dismember it with their new knowledge and teach it to our colony of survivors who have been living loudly and safely for a very long time.
It is rumoured that a quiet place III will star Djimon Honsou as the person who saves a group of people and gets them to an island.
Where the film I feel failed to nail a great second plot that built on the previous film, it started good with a pre times back story that briefly gave us an introduction. But in the end maintained the same theme as the previous film. But hey, if you've developed a product and it works why change it?
Definitely worth watching and I'd recommend it.
