Peacemaker Review
HBO or for Aussie watchers, Binge has launched the new DC series called Peacemaker based on the DC comic super hero and character from Suicide Squad played by John Cena.
The series takes off after his defeat at the hands of Bloodsport which was played by Idris Elba who managed to shoot him and while we thought the shot was in the neck it was actually in his trap. Although Peacemaker did suffer an entire building collapse on him as we learn.
After suffering minor injuries he was taken to hospital to recover for around 5 months and his character is played off as a relatively known and unrespected one.

We learn early on in a quick back story that Peacemakers dad is a T-1000 from Terminator 2 or more so the actor Robert Patrick who in my opinion has been well cast in the role.
We learn that Peacemakers dad is actually the KKK leader White Dragon and although the story so far has been a long path away from what we are used to he plays the role well and delivers that same fear today as he did in Terminator 2.
Story Line Thus Far
The story line involves some aliens taking over people's bodies and Peacemaker is a member of the team tasked with taking them down. He still has the bomb in his head from Suicide Squad and doesn't particularly have too many skills. His dad is the one that makes his tech and antagonizes his son all the time.
The series is R rated so be prepared to see plenty of John Cena near naked and quite a lot of boobs and even the odd vulva. Story line is pretty mundane and has a poor attempt at dark humor, it's racially themed villains are cringe worthy at most and would be easily dispatched by batman or superman - not sure why they haven't been called in for this job.

John Cena does play the character really well and does bring a lot of energy to it and to be completely honest this would be a pass if it wasn't for him.
Peacemaker is just a human with no real special powers or abilities and isn't even able to dispatch other basic humans all that easy, his character is probably a little weaker now than it was in suicide squad.
The show is a bit of a laugh and does bring something different to the table but rather bland and we haven't even really seen him do anything all to exciting lately other than some character development revolving around unresolved daddy issues.
If you have nothing else to watch than strap yourself in for some teenage dark humor and kill some time and count the amount of times you cringe between scenes.
