Goooood day Ciners do I have a good one for you and believe me I was not expecting this Marvel adaptation to be at all that good. I know Shang-Chi was marvels attempt at luring in the Asian dollars and introducing a character that was of Asian heritage. I anticipated it to be quite the let down but I have to admit it totally turned out to be a really good film. Heads up they have totally rewrote alot of the comic book version and created something a little new.
So we first learn of the Ten Rings as it takes it's place in the Marvel cinematic universe but it's always been there they just draw on those previous links and stepping stones from the original Iron Man films which were quite crap. I really feel Marvel has started to nail their story telling down pat as Shang-Chai has a pretty impressive film adaptation.
Once the back story is laid down which entails Shang-Chi's father and still no known source of the rings as they have been completely altered from the comic book version we find out that Shang-Chai's dad thinks his wife is kept prisoner behind some gate that unleashes soul stealing beings.
I won't go too far into derails as I don't want to ruin it for you but we do get a glimpse into what's coming next in the Marvel cinematic universe.
A bit of Dr Strange is involved and Captain Marvel as well as Bruce Banner but not as the hulk. They just provide a cameo and nothing to major as we already know that Captain Marvel would have laid out the threat with a single energy beam.
It's interesting how Marvel go to extreme lengths to keep their hero's at distance from each other and on different quests because each hero has a super villan that is capable of being destroyed by another member.
Bit like when Captain Marvel Rocks up and destroys Thanos in a single bleep. Or the fact that Dr Strange is completely kept out of the equation as he'd destroy the beast in a heart beat also. But meh, wouldn't make too much good viewing.
But we do get an awesome brother sister fight club happening and it makes awesome viewing. I have to admit there is one part of the film where you think to yourself, what the heck is going on and why isn't he doing anything. Then he does something and you're like ah ok that's why. We needed the suspense as that was really easy.
I would rate the film 10/10 and I can not wait for Thor Love and Thunder. I hope they don't ruin that film. It's going to be epic.
Eternals, well I'm waiting for it to come out on streaming but if this is anything to go off, it will be awesome too.
