Gooooood day Ciners I hope you're having a wonderful time with your buttery good popcorn with your favourite beverage entail. So today we're going down a different path and for many that don't know I have two kids 5 and 1.
What this generally means is we consume a heap of crappy kids movies where I typically fall asleep through, although we did just not long ago undertake our Jedi training and indoctrination into the dark side. But we will leave that for another post.
Today, I am going to share with you our experiences with Sonic 2 and you might be wondering what about Sonic 1 and yes we did watch that and lets be honest I wasn't all that particularly invested in it until I saw everyone's favourite pet detective Ace Ventura was on the case..... wait wrong film but I bet everyone thought that when you saw a film about an animal that starred Jim Carrey.
Now I have to admit, I didn't think it was going to be all that good of a film, other than World of Warcraft game adaptations onto the big screen don't always work out well, yes there are a few exceptions but overall they're crap.
Especially one about a game that travels from left to right and where you have to collect rings and beat Dr Robotnik. I was in though because it was a favourite game of mine as a kid. But I didn't expect much and as I started watching it I thought their story line was creative.
To be honest I don't really remember the story line of the game either I just remember having to try to beat the game in one sitting as there was no such thing as save back then. But the way they paid homage to the whole jumping on things to kill them was cool.
But I still don't know where all the little pink and blue rabbits are from the games or what they actually were for.
Sonic 2 follows much of the original style but it brings in a few more characters from the game like tails, now this is probably most of our first experience in a 2 player game. Not that tails was all that possible to play but I do recall versions of a split screen but for the most part if you jammed in another controller a second player could use Tails in the background without impacting the first player Sonic.
I don't really recall Tail's roll in the game but in the movie he/she I am not sure on gender is a Brainiac and quite resourceful.

And then of course we had Knuckles although he appears in Sonic 2 he doesn't appear until the 3rd iteration of the game and I think he was more in the new Sega rather than the Sega Master System.
Although Sonic 1 was really fun to watch Sonic 2 really paid homage to my childhood and I am not sure who enjoyed it more me or my kids. They also incorporated a whole heap of Sonic iterations in the one film like the current day mobile versions which are more like a crash bandicoot reboot but with Sonic. They suck!
For those that didn't realise the Sonic 2 poster was actually based off the game cover and paid direct homage to it as they recreated it! I found that really awesome in itself.
Much like the end of the film where in the credits they replay the entire film in 2d game version with Sonic 2 bringing in some of that mobile crash bandicoot crap style also. Still quite fun to watch!
So how did you find Sonic? did it help you relive your childhood?
