Experience Never Gets Old: "The Intern" Review

Review by @merit.ahama 🏆#128 🔥5 🎵51 🎬119 📺119 · 2h · of The Intern · 2 views

I came across a short clip of this movie and I knew immediately that I wanted to see the whole story, it's a really interesting storyline considering how unique and almost unreal it seem in the real world. An old guy interning to a young CEO at a company he once worked for? That is some wild storyline, even crazier if it's based on a true story.

Well, I didn't know what to think of the short clip as I thought the story is so unrealistic but I wondered how well they'll pull it off, especially with having an older man like that take up such a role. Well, my expectations was meant and even beyond it as I kept being in awe at the storyline.

"The Intern" is a workplace drama and comedy movie released in the year 2015 that introduces the life of a 70 year old retired widower, Ben Whittaker (starred by Robert De Niro) who got bored with being retired and decided to apply to be a senior intern at an online fashion retailer to keep busy and do something more exciting, he gets the position. Ben is old but young at heart.

He is the definition of "experience" but with humility that feels uncanny. He serves at his work place even better than the younger ones in the company, because of his positive mindset and how calmly he approaches situations, he makes friends so quickly wherever he goes even to the extent of welcoming people to live in his home.

Ben is selected to work as an intern directly under the CEO, Jules (starred by Anne Hathaway), a tireless, driven, demanding, dynamic workaholic who thinks he's too old to do anything and just kept him around doing nothing. But Ben proves to be quite useful and even became a support and wise friend to his boss.

Jules have a family but her career takes so much of her time that she didn't realise when it started to fall apart but her new old and wise friend, Ben helps her out of losing her marriage. She soon realizes how great she has grown to be through Ben as she fights letting go of everything for her family. She also begins to appreciate life more.

While the movie may seem serious, it's actually a very light and fun comedy movie as there were good laughing scenes. The story also teach lessons that younger people should learn from, especially from the life of Ben considering his life's experiences but still keeping calm and humble. The supporting characters were good too, I totally enjoyed the break-in scene they did.

I'd recommend the movie if you want a light time.
