The Parent Trap: Smart Kids, Big Tricks, Family Reunion

I don't know if I am the only who especially enjoy movies with characters that can be very expressive with their faces and actions in the roles they play. Like you can't even not notice how they express themselves in a scene that could have still been okay if they didn't do that.

This movie is full of that expressions and I caught myself comparing to find who won the expression game, who did it almost effortlessly than the others. What I mean is, if you like movies that have the characters being surprised, unsurprised, scared, excited, you should see this.

To someone I recommended it to, I said something like "It's a children and tricks story, hope you'd like it" but I found something that made the story even more cooler to me some hours later, the children I'm referring to was doubled by one child actor, her expressions are it!

"The Parent Trap" is another old movie I found out as a recommendation from the old movies I've been spending more time with. This one was released in the year 1998 although there's the one from 1986 which is older and yeah, I will see it too sometime later. So yeah, it's very old movie.

The movie is starred by Lindsay Lohan as Annie and Hallie, Dennis Quaid as Nick Parker (The father of the twin) and Natasha Richardson as Elizabeth James (The mother of the twin).

The story is about two identical girls Annie and Hallie, who is sent by their single parent, Annie's mother and Hallie's father to stay there for eight weeks. During a play, they saw themselves and immediately recognised how identical they looked. Both didn't start as friends even though they looked identical, they had it rough with each other and ended up in the isolation room, away from the other kids. And they slowly warm up to each other and after a talk, discover they're twin.

That was only the beginning to many more children game to bring back together their parents who have obviously moved on long ago. I saw the movie with my mum and cousin, the laughter was something else as we watch these identical girls teach themselves how to be each other then switch places to see the other parent.

The scenes where each of the twin meets their other parent for the first but the parent thinking they are still the same child they've had all along, gave mixed feelings to us as viewers. It was a beautiful moment for the kids but just normal for the parents which actually made sense until the parents realized they've been tricked for a while.

There are other supporting characters who made the story beautiful especially with their expressions, right from the beginning like The Butler at Annie's house, Cheesy, the caregiver at Hallie's house and the opportunistic fiancee of Hallie's dad who wants to marry him for his money. That part of the story ended well I'd say.

Over all, it's a feel-good family romance drama, maybe nothing so special about it but it's one you'd enjoy if you're looking for something light to laugh and smile to. We had a nice time watching a child actor play two roles so well. I won't say more than these, check out more of their tricks and actions to bring their parents back together.
