Doctor sleep es una película estadounidense de “terror” lanzada en el 2019. Esta película está basada en novela de Stephen king Que tiene el mismo nombre, siendo a su vez la secuela de The shining. La película está dirigida y escrita por Mike Flanagan, y protagonizada por Ewan McGregor.
Esta película de desarrolla varias décadas después de lo sucedido en la película the shining, nos muestra a Dan Torrence quien tuvo que aprender a lidiar con todo lo que le sucedió en el Hotel Overlook y a controlar su poderes para poder dejar todo atrás, pero su “tranquilidad” se ve interrumpida cuando tiene que proteger a Abra, una niña con poderes similares a los de el, que está siendo buscada por un culto que utilizan a los niños con ese poder para extender sus vidas.
Esta película me llamo la atención principalmente por ser la secuela de The Shining, aunque siento que tal vez su lanzamiento haya pasado desapercibido (porque nunca me enteré cuando salió), automáticamente supe de su existencia sabía que tenía que verla.
Doctor sleep un ritmo bastante distinto a la anterior, es una película un poco más movida y hasta con escenas de acción, en mi opinión no se centra tanto en el terror, sino pues más en construir una trama e irse resolviendo a medida que avanza la película.
En términos generales me pareció una buena película, la disfruté bastante, no se si considerarla una película de terror como tal, pero la trama si me engancho bastante, se me hizo interesante y disfruté el desenlace.
El cast me parece muy bueno, Ewan McGregor como protagonista es buenísimo, también podemos ver a Rebecca Ferguson que hace un excelente trabajo, entonces por ese lado pues si es una película bastante completa.
Si siento que puede ser un poco injusto compararla con The Shining, primero porque considero que ya es prácticamente una película de culto con unas actuaciones impecables y una dirección 10/10, además maneja una estética bastante peculiar que le da una vibra única y eso está muy cool, entonces veo muy complicado que doctor sleep la supere en todos esos aspectos, pero eso no quiere decir que no sea una buena película, para nada, es más me atrevería a decir que supero mis expectativas y logro entrenarme bastante.

Doctor sleep is an American "horror" film released in 2019. This film is based on Stephen king's novel of the same name, being in turn the sequel to The shining. The film is directed and written by Mike Flanagan, and stars Ewan McGregor.
This movie takes place several decades after what happened in the movie the shining, it shows us Dan Torrence who had to learn to deal with everything that happened to him in the Overlook Hotel and to control his powers to be able to leave everything behind, but his "tranquility" is interrupted when he has to protect Abra, a girl with powers similar to his, who is being sought by a cult that uses children with that power to extend their lives.
This film caught my attention mainly because it was the sequel to The Shining, although I feel that perhaps its release may have gone unnoticed (because I never found out when it came out), I automatically knew of its existence and knew I had to see it.
Doctor sleep has a very different rhythm from the previous one, it is a film a little more moving and even with action scenes, in my opinion it does not focus so much on terror, but more on building a plot and resolving it as the film progresses.
In general terms I thought it was a good movie, I enjoyed it a lot, I don't know if I should consider it a horror movie as such, but the plot hooked me a lot, I found it interesting and I enjoyed the denouement.
The cast seems to me very good, Ewan McGregor as the main character is great, we can also see Rebecca Ferguson who does an excellent job, so on that side it is a pretty complete movie.
If I feel that it may be a little unfair to compare it with The Shining, first because I consider that it is practically a cult film with impeccable performances and a 10/10 direction, also handles a rather peculiar aesthetic that gives it a unique vibe and that is very cool, then I see very complicated that doctor sleep surpasses it in all those aspects, but that does not mean it is not a good movie, not at all, indeed I would dare to say that it exceeded my expectations and managed to train me quite a lot.
