Hoy quiero hablarles sobre una película de terror/suspenso que vi hace unos días, quiero acotar que no soy un experto en el género de terror, he visto pocas películas de este género pero en esta específicamente vi varias cosas que me llamaron la atención, por eso les quiero hablar de Malignant.
Malignant es una película de terror/ suspenso estadounidense dirigido por James Wan (director de películas como Saw y el conjuro) y protagonizada por Annabelle Wallis, Jake Abel, George Young, Maddie Hasson, Michole Briana White, Jacqueline Mckenzie y Mckenna Grace.
Aquí les va una sinopsis sencilla y sin spoilers: Madison después de golpearse en la cabeza debido a una discusión con su pareja jake, empiezan a suceder fenómenos “paranormales” en su casa pero además Madison tiene visiones de asesinatos que se van realizando en la ciudad por este ente desconocido, Madison quiere llegar al fondo de esto ya que tiene una conexión con es ente y se le está incriminando a ella como la causante de los asesinatos.
La película me dejo un sabor bastante agridulce, ya que vi muchas cosas que me parecieron interesantes pero también noté algunas que no me gustaron tanto, no es la mejor película de terror, pero es una película bastante interesante de analiza.
Aspectos positivos:
Uno de los aspectos más destacables de esta película es la dirección, hay muchos momentos donde las escenas son impresionantes, todo lo que es dirección y fotografía de la película es bastante buena, es una película que visualmente no va a decepcionar, esto es un gran punto positivo.
Otro gran especto de la película es su trama principal, para mi una película de terror tiene que tener una buena trama, si el objetivo de la película es solo dar miedo porque si y no tiene una trama sólida que la sustente no me va a gustar, en este caso la trama me gusto bastante y utiliza el terror y suspendo de una manera interesante para desarrollar la historia.
También quiero destacar que la película está contada en una manera bastante curiosa, nos van mostrando un poco del pasado, un poco del presento para poder ir entendiendo lo que estamos viendo, fue algo que me gusto bastante.
Aspectos Negativos:
La última parte de la película no me gusto, cuando ya cambia el tono de suspenso a una película más de acción a lo matrix me perdió, porque una de las cosas que más me gusto de la película fue el manejo del suspenso y al final no hay nada de eso.
Otro punto negativo que encontré en la película es la sobre explicación de todo, me hubiese gustado más que la película hubiese tenido un final un poco más ambiguo o abierto, pero no, está película siente la necesidad de responder a todas la preguntas y darnos una respuesta “lógica” y esto no me gusto para nada.
Conclusión final:
Es una película bastante decente y aunque empieza un poco lenta la verdad es que en ningún momento se hace realmente pesada, aunque el final me pareció un poco flojo me parece injusto juzgar la película por los últimos 20 min cuando en si el desarrollo de la misma ha sido bastante bueno. En general me gusto, Cumplió con lo que esperaba
Today I want to talk to you about a horror/suspense movie I saw a few days ago, I want to point out that I am not an expert in the horror genre, I have seen few movies of this genre but in this one specifically I saw several things that caught my attention, that's why I want to talk about Malignant.
Malignant is an American horror/thriller film directed by James Wan (director of films like Saw and The Conjuring) and starring Annabelle Wallis, Jake Abel, George Young, Maddie Hasson, Michole Briana White, Jacqueline Mckenzie and Mckenna Grace.
Here is a simple synopsis with no spoilers: Madison after getting hit in the head due to an argument with her partner Jake, "paranormal" phenomena start to happen in her house but Madison also has visions of murders that are taking place in the city by this unknown entity, Madison wants to get to the bottom of this because she has a connection with this entity and she is being framed as the cause of the murders.
The movie left me with a rather bittersweet taste, as I saw many things that I found interesting but I also noticed some things that I didn't like as much, it's not the best horror movie, but it's a pretty interesting movie to analyze.
Positive aspects:
One of the most outstanding aspects of this movie is the direction, there are many moments where the scenes are impressive, everything that is direction and photography of the movie is quite good, it is a movie that visually is not going to disappoint, this is a great positive point.
Another great aspect of the movie is its main plot, for me a horror movie has to have a good plot, if the objective of the movie is just to be scary for the sake of being scary and it doesn't have a solid plot to support it I won't like it, in this case I liked the plot and it uses terror and suspense in an interesting way to develop the story.
I also want to emphasize that the film is told in a rather curious way, they show us a little of the past, a little of the present to be able to understand what we are seeing, it was something that I liked a lot.
Negative Aspects:
I didn't like the last part of the movie, when it changes the tone from suspense to a more action movie to the matrix it lost me, because one of the things I liked the most about the movie was the handling of suspense and at the end there is nothing of that.
Another negative point I found in the movie is the over explanation of everything, I would have liked more that the movie would have had a little more ambiguous or open ending, but no, this movie feels the need to answer all the questions and give us a "logical" answer and I didn't like this at all.
Final conclusion:
It is a pretty decent movie and although it starts a little slow the truth is that at no time it becomes really heavy, although the end seemed to me a little weak it seems unfair to judge the film by the last 20 min when in if the development of it has been pretty good. In general I liked it, it fulfilled what I expected.
