Hola hive, voy les vengo a hablar de una película que salió hace algunos años pero que sinceramente nunca la había visto y tampoco la conocía, pero cuando leí de que iba de una vez me entusiasme a verla ya que sonaba bastante prometedora, así que por esta razón es que hoy les quiero hablar y dar mi opinión sobre What We Do In The Shadows
What We Do In The Shadows es una película lanzada en el 2014 con un concepto de falso documental, dirigida y escrita por Jemaine Clement y Taika Waititi, protagonizada por el propio Taika Waititi, Jemaine Clement, Jonathan Brugh, Cori Gonzalez-Macuer y Stu Rutherford. Esta película nos muestra la vida de un grupo de vampiros que viven en el mundo contemporaneo, y tienen que afrontar todas las situaciones incómodas que esto conlleva. Ya habiendo dado un poco de contexto ahora si comencemos!
Primero siempre me gusta empezar hablando de lo que más me encanto de la película y sin duda debo destacar el concepto en sí, los falsos documentales es un formato que es un poco complicado, pero cuando se logra hacer de la forma correcta es increíble, mucho más aún en contextos de comedia como hemos podido observar en series como “the office”, esta película decide irse por un camino bastante similar, por lo que iremos viendo el día a día de este grupo de vampiros bastante peculiar.
Sin duda el humor es el foco principal de esta película y es que la cantidad de situaciones irónicas y absurdas en las que se meten los protagonistas es increíble, además la personalidad caótica de cada uno de ellos hace que al mezclarse con los otros factores sea extremadamente incómodo pero a la vez gracioso.
Cabe destacar que la película no tiene una trama o una historia definida, porque realmente no la tiene, es más como un conjunto de situaciones cómicas que unidas forman una película, obviamente todas tienen cierta coherencia entre sí, pero se nota que esta película gira en torno 100% al humor, y yo como buen fan de la comedia, admito que este tipo de películas me encanta.
Ya he visto varias películas de Taika Waititi que me han perecido increíbles, entre las mas destacables están Jojo Rabbit (que me parece una auténtica joyita) y las últimas dos peliculas de Thor en el MCU. Todas con un estilo bastante auténtico y un humor característico dejando una gran huella en cada una de sus películas.
Ahora lo que realmente no siento es que sea una película para todo el mundo, siento que what we do in the shadows puede ser una película increíble si sabemos de que va realmente, tal vez si esperas una historia súper elaborada y plot twist que te vuelen la cabeza probablemente aquí no los consigas, pero ahora si lo que quieres es divertirte y pasar un buen rato, estás en el lugar correcto.
Se que existe una serie que salió años después a esta película pero tampoco nunca la había escuchado, pero sin duda ahorita la tengo en mi listas de pendientes, porque me parece que es bastante prometedora, es más inicialmente me parece un concepto que puede funcionar mas en formato de serie que de película, así que sinceramente espero que la serie no me decepcione.
En conclusión si te gusta el humor “incomodo” e irónico, sin duda esta película es para ti, la vas a disfrutar demasiado porque tiene momentos muy divertidos que de seguro te van a sacar una buena risa. Siempre me alegra mucho ver películas o series sin ningún tipo de expectativas y que me terminen sorprendiendo de una forma positiva (como es este caso). Totalmente recomendado!

Hi hive, I'm here to talk about a movie that came out a few years ago but honestly I had never seen it and I didn't know it either, but when I read about it I was excited to see it because it sounded quite promising, so for this reason is that today I want to talk and give you my opinion about What We Do In The Shadows.
What We Do In The Shadows is a movie released in 2014 with a mockumentary concept, directed and written by Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi, starring Taika Waititi himself, Jemaine Clement, Jonathan Brugh, Cori Gonzalez-Macuer and Stu Rutherford. This film shows us the life of a group of vampires who live in the contemporary world, and have to face all the uncomfortable situations that this entails. Having given a bit of context, let's get started!
First I always like to start talking about what I love most about the film and without a doubt I must highlight the concept itself, the fake documentaries is a format that is a bit complicated, but when it is done in the right way is amazing, even more so in contexts of comedy as we have seen in series like "the office", this film decides to go down a very similar path, so we will see the day to day life of this group of vampires quite peculiar.
Undoubtedly humor is the main focus of this film and the amount of ironic and absurd situations in which the protagonists get into is incredible, plus the chaotic personality of each of them makes it extremely uncomfortable but at the same time funny when mixed with the other factors.
It should be noted that the film doesn't have a plot or a defined story, because it really doesn't, it's more like a set of comic situations that together form a movie, obviously they all have some coherence with each other, but you can tell that this movie revolves around 100% humor, and I as a good fan of comedy, I admit that I love this kind of movies.
I have already seen several films by Taika Waititi that I have found incredible, among the most notable are Jojo Rabbit (which I think is a real gem) and the last two Thor movies in the MCU. All of them with a very authentic style and a characteristic humor leaving a great mark in each of his films.
Now what I really don't feel is that this is a movie for everyone, I feel that what we do in the shadows can be an incredible movie if we know what it is really about, maybe if you expect a super elaborate story and plot twists that will blow your mind you probably won't get them here, but now if what you want is to have fun and have a good time, you are in the right place.
I know there is a series that came out years after this movie but I had never heard of it either, but without a doubt now I have it on my to do list, because I think it is quite promising, it seems to me initially a concept that can work more in a series format than a movie, so I sincerely hope that the series does not disappoint me.
In conclusion, if you like "uncomfortable" and ironic humor, this movie is definitely for you, you will enjoy it a lot because it has very funny moments that will surely make you laugh. I'm always happy to see movies or series without any kind of expectations and that end up surprising me in a positive way (as in this case). Totally recommended!
