Hola hive, hoy les quiero hablar sobre una película que salió hace unos años y desde el momento de su estreno quise verla pero paso el tiempo y la dejé ir, hasta que hace unos días por fin pude verla, así que esa es la razón por la que hoy les quiero hablar de Whiplash
Whiplash es una película estadounidense lanzada en el 2014, dirigida por Damien Chazelle, protagonizada por Miles Teller y J.K Simmons. Esta película nos muestra un joven baterista de jazz que quiere dejar un huella en el mundo y se consigue con un profesor con una metodología peculiar que lo lleva a la desesperación pero a su vez a sacar lo mejor de sí. Dicho esto comencemos!
Cabe destacar que soy músico y por mucho tiempo estuve en academias y orquesta, por lo que más allá de la película en si, también hay un factor anecdótico de por medio que me trajo bastante nostalgia, y me llego a pensar ¿hasta que punto esto es ficción?, ahí fue donde realmente me dejó reflexionando esta película.
Ahora si, primero siempre me gusta empezar hablando de los aspectos que más me encantan de esta película y obviamente es el concepto y trama, porque aunque no es nada complicada ni demasiado innovadora la verdad es que esta muy bien contado, cada diálogo y situación suma mucho a la trama general de la película haciendo que el resultado final se sienta bastante completo.
Otro aspecto a destacar que también siento que es uno de los mejores es la actuación de ambos protagonistas, tanto miles teller que logra transmitirnos más de una vez la dedicación a su objetivo, así como J.K Simmons que logra transmitir temor con esa actitud totalmente dominante y aunque la dinámica entre los dos protagonistas es de rivalidad, la verdad es que debe haber una química bastante buena entre ambos actores para así lograr escenas tan geniales.
Obviamente tenemos que hablar con respecto a la música en si, sino me equivoco esta película tuvo una buena recepción en este apartado, no solo porque las canciones originales son bastante geniales sino que además en cuanto a mezcla y edición de sonido es bastante impresionante, esto es fundamental en estas películas que tienen como temática “musica” porque obviamente tiene que resaltar.
Ahora con respecto a lo que nos muestra la película y teniendo mi experiencia como músico me hizo pensar en que porcentaje de lo mostrado era realidad, entrando en un pequeño debate interno, porque obviamente es una experiencia totalmente personal y entiendo que existirán sus casos donde se acerque o donde se alejen más de la realidad.
Hay muchas dinámicas que suceden en la película que son bastante reales, como las escenas donde está ensayando la orquesta y hacen repetir a los músicos una y otra vez su parte hasta llegar lo más cercano a la perfección, y aunque esté escenario en las mayorías de los casos es bastante sano si es verdad que la presión que se siente en un momento así es real.
Siento que el punto donde se vuelve ficción es cuando ya se vuelve agresivo y recae en el daño físico, esto es algo que obviamente no sucede o por lo menos no desde mi experiencia, pero hay otras cosas que si son realidad, como cuando existe una competencia para obtener el puesto principal y dicho puesto lo tiene que mantener, ya que si no rinde lo suficiente puede ser fácilmente remplazado.
Dentro de toda esta exageración hay una pequeña base de realidad, pero siento que es algo que podemos encontrar en cualquier disciplina. Cuando recién salió esta película ley que esta película le podía hacer mala fama a las academias de música y menos jóvenes iban a querer inscribirse y también estoy de acuerdo, pero parte de todo es entender que es una ficción, así que no me parece tampoco nada grave.
Hablando objetivamente de la película es bastante buena, tiene escenas increíbles, excelente cast, buena música y una trama que engancha ¿que más se puede pedir?, además muestra desde adentro como es la dinámica de ser músico en una elite, que aunque esta realidad es exagerada también hay aspectos que son verdad, sumándole aún más valor ha esta película. En conclusión creo que es una excelente película, si eres música te va a encantar y hasta te sentirás identificado en una que otra escena, en el caso de que no seas músico igual vas a poder presenciar una increíble película.

Whiplash is an American movie released in 2014, directed by Damien Chazelle, starring Miles Teller and J.K Simmons. This movie shows us a young jazz drummer who wants to make a mark in the world and gets a teacher with a peculiar methodology that leads him to despair but in turn to bring out the best in him. That said, let's begin!
It should be noted that I am a musician and for a long time I was in academies and orchestra, so beyond the film itself, there is also an anecdotal factor in between that brought me quite nostalgic, and I got to think to what extent this is fiction, that's where I really left me reflecting this film.
Now yes, first I always like to start talking about the aspects that I love the most about this movie and obviously it is the concept and plot, because although it is nothing complicated or too innovative the truth is that it is very well told, each dialogue and situation adds a lot to the overall plot of the film making the final result feel quite complete.
Another aspect to highlight that I also feel is one of the best is the acting of both protagonists, both miles teller who manages to transmit us more than once the dedication to his goal, as well as J.K Simmons who manages to convey fear with that totally dominant attitude and although the dynamic between the two protagonists is of rivalry, the truth is that there must be a pretty good chemistry between the two actors to achieve such great scenes.
Obviously we have to talk about the music itself, if I'm not mistaken this film had a good reception in this section, not only because the original songs are pretty cool but also in terms of mixing and sound editing is quite impressive, this is essential in these films that are themed "music" because obviously it has to stand out.
Now with respect to what the film shows us and having my experience as a musician made me think about what percentage of what was shown was reality, entering into a small internal debate, because obviously it is a totally personal experience and I understand that there will be cases where it is closer or further away from reality.
There are many dynamics that happen in the film that are quite real, like the scenes where the orchestra is rehearsing and they make the musicians repeat over and over again their part until they get as close to perfection, and although this scenario in most cases is quite healthy it is true that the pressure you feel at a time like this is real.
I feel that the point where it becomes fiction is when he becomes aggressive and falls into physical harm, this is something that obviously does not happen or at least not from my experience, but there are other things that are reality, as when there is a competition for the main position and that position has to keep it, because if he does not perform well enough he can be easily replaced.
Within all this exaggeration there is a small base of reality, but I feel that it is something that we can find in any discipline. When this film just came out I thought that this film could give a bad reputation to the music academies and less young people would want to enroll and I also agree, but part of it all is to understand that it is a fiction, so I don't think it's a big deal either.
Objectively speaking, the film is quite good, it has incredible scenes, excellent cast, good music and a plot that engages, what more can you ask for, it also shows from the inside how is the dynamics of being a musician in an elite, although this reality is exaggerated there are also aspects that are true, adding even more value to this film. In conclusion I think it is an excellent movie, if you are a musician you will love it and you will even feel identified in one or another scene, in case you are not a musician you will still be able to witness an incredible movie.
