William Tell es un buen jugador de poker, quien prefiere mantenerse en el anonimato e ir viviendo del día a día. Mientras jugaba en la ciudad del pecado, un nombre llama su atención, sin saber que al entrar en esa conferencia, su oscuro pasado volverá a él y nada será nuevamente lo mismo.

Allí conoce a un joven llamado Cirk, hijo de un ex compañero que servía en las fuerzas especiales. Este le comenta su plan de vengarse del coronel que estaba dando la conferencia, en venganza por arruinar su vida, la de su padre y de cualquier persona que haya estado bajo su mando, por lo que Tell decidirá llevarlo con él y tratar de guiarlo por un mejor camino.
There he meets a young man named Cirk, the son of a former partner who served in the special forces. Ambos salen a recorrer el país en busca de nuevos lugares para jugar poker y seguir bajo del radar, pero cuando ganas, es muy difícil mantenerse en el anonimato. En una de sus paradas conocerán a La Linda, una mujer quien se encarga de fichar a buenos jugadores de poker y llevarlos a un nivel profesional, financiando la entrada de los mismos con dinero de patrocinadores, pero asegurándose que se su dinero sea devuelto completamente, y en el proceso, llevándose un buen porcentaje del dinero ganado.

Con el paso de los minutos, Till nos va contando un poco más de su pasado, como llego a pertenecer a un selecto grupo que se movía en las sombras, su entrenamiento y los métodos de tortura que aprendió para defender a su país, y luego cuando todo salió a luz, como fue traicionado y encerrado por 8 largos años, donde casi fue comido por el remordimiento y llevado al límite. La oportunidad de jugar poker profesional le abre la puerta para sacar a Cirk de la oscuridad y darle un nuevo significado a su vida, por lo que no dejará pasar el tren para intentar curar ya su muy maltrecha alma.
As the minutes go by, Till tells us a little more about his past, how he came to belong to a select group that moved in the shadows, his training and the torture methods he learned to defend his country, and then when it all came to light, how he was betrayed and locked up for 8 long years, where he was almost eaten up by remorse and pushed to the limit. The opportunity to play professional poker opens the door for him to bring Cirk out of the darkness and give his life a new meaning, so he will not miss the train to try to heal his very battered soul.
El director de esta película utilizo muy bien la metáfora del poker para compararla con la desafortunada vida del protagonista, ya que siempre irás a ciegas en un mundo tan turbio como en el que Till se desenvolvía, afrontando y conociendo todos los riesgos de antemano, y sabiendo que solo existen ganadores y perdedores, no existen puntos medios. La banda sonora, aunque no me gusta, ayuda a darle más incomodidad a las escenas, logrando una ambientación acordé a lo que quieren plasmar en la gran pantalla.
The director of this film used the metaphor of poker very well to compare it with the unfortunate life of the protagonist, since you will always go blind in a world as murky as the one in which Till unfolded, facing and knowing all the risks in advance, and knowing that there are only winners and losers, there are no middle ground. The soundtrack, although I don't like it, helps to make the scenes more uncomfortable, achieving an atmosphere according to what they want to capture on the big screen.
Oscar Isaac le agrega mucha complejidad al personaje principal, pues además de verlo muy seguro y misterioso, fácilmente podemos apreciar que ha tenido un vida muy dura y que está atormentado, llevando todo a otro nivel en los minutos finales, donde vemos que intenta dejar atrás su pasado y comenzar una nueva vida, pero que todo se va al traste en apenas pocos segundos. Los demás actores estuvieron bien, pero me hubiera gustado ver un poco más de Willem Dafoe.
Oscar Isaac adds a lot of complexity to the main character, because in addition to seeing him very safe and mysterious, we can easily appreciate that he has had a very hard life and that he is tormented, taking everything to another level in the final minutes, where we see that he tries to leave behind his past and start a new life, but that everything goes to the fret in just a few seconds. The other actors were fine, but I would have liked to see a little more of Willem Dafoe.

En conclusión, es una película muy buena, con diferentes matices, que no es para todo el mundo, pues por momentos pareciera que no va a ningún lado, pero logra concluir todo muy bien con los trepidantes minutos finales. Las actuaciones y la escenografía son sencillamente geniales, siendo lo mejor del filme, por lo que vale la pena tenerla como una prioridad para el fin de semana, jajaja.
In conclusion, it is a very good film, with different nuances, which is not for everyone, because at times it seems that it is not going anywhere, but it manages to conclude everything very well with the exciting final minutes. The performances and scenery are just great, being the best of the film, so it's worth having it as a priority for the weekend, jajaja.
