Quinta entrega de la saga de la purga, y como ya nos tiene acostumbrados, cada vez las películas son peores, en un claro signo de decadencia de la franquicia, que a pesar de tener uno de los mejores conceptos de los últimos años, realmente nunca ha sido explotado del todo, faltando más anarquía y acción, y tal vez, una película donde los protagonistas sean los victimarios.

La historia girará en torno a Adela (Ana de la Reguera) y su esposo Juan (Tenoch Huerta), quienes viven en Texas como inmigrantes, después de tener un oscuro pasado en su México natal. A la mañana siguiente después de la purga, ambos se van a trabajar como normalmente lo harían, pero esta vez será diferente, a Adela la envisten un grupo de purgadores de camino a su empleo y al defenderle, será detenido por las autoridades, mientras que Juan tendrá que defender a sus empleadores después de ser secuestrados en su rancho.
The story will revolve around Adela (Ana de la Reguera) and her husband Juan (Tenoch Huerta), who live in Texas as immigrants, after having a dark past in their native Mexico. Los primeros 30 minutos de la película son totalmente aburridos, ya que a pesar de llegar a la noche de purga, observamos los típicos refugios y los lugares clandestinos para esconderse, pero de la acción de la noche más sangrienta del año, nada. Cuando comienza realmente la acción y el derrame de sangre, ya hemos bostezado un poco, y además esa sensación de estar en Mad Max con carros llenos de calaveras y trajes, tampoco ayuda mucho.
The first 30 minutes of the film are totally boring, since despite arriving at the purge night, we observe the typical shelters and clandestine places to hide, but from the action of the bloodiest night of the year, nothing. Otra cosa que no podemos evitar es la dura crítica que intentan hacer en contra del racismo en los Estados Unidos, aunque me dió la impresión que como medio Hollywood está haciendo, solo tratan de sumarse a una moda más y no lo hacen porque realmente lo sientan. En cuanto a las actuaciones, Ana de la Reguera es la que más sobresale en un cast poco conocido para mí, pero el resto reprueba junto a toda la dirección y, principalmente, el guionista.

No hay muchas cosas positivas, con un desenlace más que predecible y soporífero, pero lo que más tengo que criticar, es que después de 5 entregas los productores no escuchan a los fans y entregan una historia con un verdadero trasfondo...
