Good or Bad, a movie is a movie, I have watched it so it demands for a review of the experience. I, with two companions, just finished watching Barbarian (2022). How was it? That's going to be revealed after a short time but before that, I would like to draw something else. I don't watch trailers before watching a film, the one who selected it randomly for today, had watched the trailer and I was like, "You are already filled with a ton of spoilers so stay quiet while we watch this." But trust me, I have watched the trailer after finishing the movie just to see why he had picked that movie for today. I am more impressed with the trailer than the movie, really the trailer was too good when you compare it after watching the whole film, do try it after watching if you have planned to watch or already did.
Barbarian is a horror film released in this year, written and directed by Zach Cregger. As our stars, we get to see Georgina Campbell, Bill Skarsgard, and Justin Long.
So the story starts with Georgina as Tess and Bill as Keith, both of them booked the same house for rent. Somehow they agreed to stay together in the house. The house is haunted, right? That's how every horror story goes on, maybe Tess or Keith is fishy? Ummmm, these are the thoughts I got and you would go through too. A big portion of the beginning runtime goes normally. You may be expecting a sudden horror scene just like me but it doesn’t walk that way but the progression of the story was good.
For the sake of review and my experience, little bits of spoilers are coming ahead. The character we were introduced to for our horror scenes shocked me not because of the fear but of the appearance of a naked one. Maybe I had quieted if I had known the naked experience and related story throughout the whole movie. Also, the story of that character was more fun to experience than being scared of. Don't get me wrong, we three were literally laughing at the things we were experiencing. Some say that horror films become funny ones when watched together with a bunch of friends or family. The thing we always notice on horror films about doing what the character shouldn’t have done, it's seen here too, hehe. We were instructing her not to do that, but she was deaf enough to hear us and fell on her own mistakes, lol. We get to see some self-centred scenes too and I was too mad during those moments and got satisfied somehow.
In short, the story is about getting stuck in a house's basement from where they must survive. Can they make it out alive? The answers are hidden in the film.
The Runtime is less than 2 hours, not a very good one, I would have tons of better ones to watch instead of picking this if I knew the experience but I repeat again, the trailer was good, go ahead and watch it, that would be more tempting to make you determined for watching the film. I would like to rate it 7 out of ten. The beginning and the ending is the value that kept me hooked to write this experience.
