After some of the busy days, I got some time to watch a movie. This time I have picked a Brazilian movie. The last one I watched was City Of God, which was the first Brazilian crime genre movie for me and I loved it. On that one, we got to see how the slums are run by the young gangsters. If one is down then the other rises, age is just a number there. This one also gives us a picture of something like that.

Elite Squad is a Brazilian crime-related film directed by Jose Padilha. I had to watch it with English subtitles. Well, the movie has a well-organized story. It starts with a narration from an officer of a special force named BOPE who describes the situation of the slums in Rio. Even the police are scared of messing with the drug dealers of that area because they have families too that they care about. Some of them are corrupted who have links with those drug dealers and the narrator is very angry with them. To him, they have no differences and he might kill both of them together.
So in the beginning while describing the situation we got to see a scene where some police officers were dealing with some drug dealers and two officers shot at them from a hiding place which created great chaos. There we get a BOPE team which later eliminates that war, for the drug dealers BOPE teams are something to fear about. Moving forward it does show us the friendship of two friends, the duty of a BOPE officer who was searching for a proper replacement for him as he was going to be a dad soon. So the story turns into recruitment and we see so much of the hard struggle to stay in the race of being a part of BOPE. We would see tragedy in there too which makes someone stronger to his aim, more focused in his work, and revenge that would make him fit for the desired position.
Actually, the movie starts with describing the crimes in the slums and ends with the proper replacement of the special unit officer who was the narrator for us, most of the time. In the meantime, it would engage us with so many things that we won't feel bored at all. They have focused on the story of the officers and how they try to minimize those crimes in that area. Even the result of messing up with the special force. In City Of God we have seen only the story of the young gangsters, they were dominating everything. Here we would see the opposite party dominating them with other relatable scenes.
This was all about the movie in short. Good one if you love to watch crime-related thriller movies. Personally, I would love to rate it 8 out of 10. It does have part 2 too, I have kept that in my watchlist and gonna watch it soon. City of god, Elite squad 1,2 are same kinda films so we can watch them combinedly to have a better experience.Happy watching!C
