Now You See Me (2013)

Review by @minhajulmredol · 1452d · of Now You See Me

Was going through an exam session that came to an end today. Written exams are kinda better where you need not face anyone directly. Today I encountered a viva for which I was way too stressed. These verbal exams always turn out to be the easy one yet stressful, well it's done which calls for a movie and I went for that.

'Now You See Me' is a movie from the thriller and crime genre which is my favorite spot to go with. This one is directed by Louis Leterrier from a screenplay. The story includes magic and heists.

In the beginning, we would see four magicians performing their acts in different places and get spotted by someone anonymous who brings them in together. Later they performed a magic show together, being called "The four horsemen" where they performed an act to rob a bank through magic, and it was actually robbed, the money was gone and airdropped among the audience. FBI gets after them, they interrogate them but find no clue to keep them in custody and let them leave.

To ease things, our main characters are those four magicians roles played by Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Isla Fisher, and Dave Franco. And on the investigation side, we get Mark Ruffalo from the FBI and Melanie Raulent from Interpol. Too many characters, too many names, all of them played important and praiseworthy roles in the ride of all the heists. Ah yes, another key character is Morgan Freeman, who has been acting as a retired magician who is now upto exposing the existing magician's tricks for a long time. So he was also after those Four Horsemen to reveal them, and he was explaining all the magic being a heist.

To keep things short lemme briefly mention that there were two more acts from those Four Horsemen, they continued to show their magic to fulfill their target. In the meantime, there was always a reason behind every act or heist of them. Some action scenes too.

Well, this is a thriller movie so the less story is raveled, the less damage is done. I tried to follow this, there are twists, as we know those four were called by someone so we had to find that too, even they were searching for that eye who was looking over them to execute these. Twist, there are twists, and you will be enjoying how those acts were performed to leave us perplexed. Some mind-blowing tricks before our eyes. Every character had their importance there, so you stick till the end.

Yeah, I was looking for a thriller and I got one, it was thrilling, related to crime, a good one but not that I was satisfied fully. After watching the whole thing, I am feeling that something is missing, got a good ride, not distracted even for a minute. Still, I am missing something. So if this is lying down on your watchlist for a long time, go for it and get done with this. Overall, I would like to rate it 7 out of 10.
