পাপ পূণ্য - Paap Punno (2022)

Review by @minhajulmredol · 1539d · of Paap Punno

Haven't watched any Bangla cinema for a long time. I think it will be two years since I watched a movie from Siam Ahmed for the last time. In this Eid, there have been a few movies released, and becoming the talk of the town both in positive and negative ways. Amidst them, there is one with less marketing yet packed with a good cast and story. That's Paap-Punno, I found it on Youtube today in my suggestions section and decided to watch it.

'Paap Punno' is a Bangladeshi film directed by Gias Uddin Selim and for casting, we got to see some renowned faces from our media like Chanchal Chowdhury, Siam Ahmed, Afsan Mimi, Fazlur Rahman Babu. Actually, Siam Ahmed and Chanchal Chowdhury along with our director were the reason I sat for watching.

The plot starts with Chanchal Chowdhury being an honest chairman of a village and Siam Ahmed his bodyguard. They were in a rural arbitration and there we got to see a rival of our chairman. So here we get to see a romantic story of Siam and Shahnaj Shumi, she is playing the role of the daughter of our chairman. Also, Siam's mother, Afsana Mimi is a maid in that house.

Here we come again, our usual upper class and lower class clash. The girl is from a rich background and the boy is from a poor one, sounds familiar, right? Yeah, I felt the same too but our director handled it after that pretty beautifully, the story might give you a slow feeling in the middle, particularly during the half of its runtime I felt it was a little bit slow. To separate our love birds, Siam's mother plays a vital role and arranges a way to send him abroad through the help of the chairman as a token of payment for the service they offered without any payment all these years.

After Siam gets away from the chairman, his rival plays his move and frames him for a murder that he didn't do. Everything goes against him, he will be sentenced to death if no evidence of his innocence is proven.

Okay, that's it, explained it more than enough. The story sounds simple enough to hear, right? I guess so too but wait a minute, when you will be sitting to watch there will be a few twists that would turn the whole impression about the movie, that was the moment I got to realize the meaning of the naming of the film. Everything we do somehow finds a way back to us. If I am to judge about the overall movie I will say the story is praiseworthy, the ending earns it all. About the performances, I will say I kinda like Siam and Chanchal Chowdhury the most in the whole industry, can't name anyone near them. They didn't disappoint me, but yeah there were a few scenes from Afsana Mimi that I laughed at which were not meant to be funny scenes, it's not like her performance was bad but I kinda felt funny about them.

Before watching I came across a few people's impressions where they dragged Korean films, as those also leave us perplexed in the end through their story so you may feel that too. There are a few thoughts that I wanted to say but it would be a major spoiler so zipping it. Well, in the end, I would say it was good, actually a better one. Continuous movies like these might save our film industry and draw the attention of audiences like us. It's available on Youtube so go for it, you will be having a good time.

I hardly watch movies and in case of Bengali movies, I almost forgot when for the last time I watched. But this one seems very interesting.

I didn't go through it as there might be spoilers 😅. I'm not too fond of trailers even, 🤣. I just read the last line and rushed to youTube. Hoping to watch it by today. Will come back to you 😛.
