There are plenty of war-related films out there but I have watched only a few of them. Movies like 1917, Dunkirk, Hacksaw Ridge, and Saving Private Ryan are some of the most praised ones. Every time You sit with them, there is always a moment when you will get drowned in the horror of war, those continuous loud gun fires won't bother you much, you will be just waiting for a happy ending, not exactly happy but for a satisfactory one.
So the film I enjoyed today is "Saving Private Ryan" which is a war film directed by Steven Spielberg, written by Robert Rodar, and released in 1998. Tom Hanks and Matt Damon could be the two names one needs to hear to jump into watching the movie.
About the first thirty minutes, you would see continuous shootings in Omaha Beach for the mission of the Normandy Invasion in World War II, trust me these kinda mass shooting scenes are not usually preferred by me. After the first wave, everything seems to be under control, and right then Captain John H. Miller, the role played by Tom Hanks, who was in the command of the invasion was called for another mission.
Before watching I was wondering what kind of name it is, and then the fact came to me that a family of soldiers who has four sons and three of them died in different battles, one of them is left so the orders came to find him and send him back to home. They were writing letters for the martyred soldiers, there they noticed about three Ryan, and another Ryan is out there, so they thought of easing the mother's pain by at least returning one of her sons home alive. Does it make sense?
Well, emotionally it makes sense, but then the question arises why to put the other's life at stake in finding him expecting to be alive in the middle of a war. The captain had to leave with a group of eight, so they put eight soldiers at risk, even soldiers spoke against that too but you know everything got a different view too, maybe it has a bigger cause too.
For Captain Miller, it doesn't bother them much how many soldiers he had to lose when he thinks about the number he had saved through that way, ten to twenty times larger than those numbers are.
So what do you expect from Ryan? Is he dead or alive? If alive, what would be his reaction and decision after hearing that news? Well, that Ryan character is being played by Matt Damon and he delivered some good moments for us.
That's a movie with a huge runtime, approximately two hours and 40 minutes plus but you won't get bored once you get attached to the story. Well, runtime bites me mostly that's why I pointed this out, in case someone like me is reading this too. Overall, this is a must-watch movie that everyone knows about, if you still haven't watched it then go for it, you won't be regretting it for sure.
