Maybe for the first time, my nephews and I were together through online streaming to watch a movie. A family reunion you can say, a few cousins joined us too. At first, we thought of going for horror, but due to some major objections, we had to stick with an action genre movie. It would have been more exciting with horror. Well, as we were not watching together physically so we can keep that aside. So it wasn't very hard to select a suitable movie, went for a trending one by Tom Cruise, Top Gun: Maverick.
Top Gun: Maverick is an action film directed by Joseph Kosinski, the movie is based on a story by Peter Craig and Justin Marks. It's a sequel to the 1986 Top Gun, both of them starring Tom Cruise.
Here, in the beginning, we get to introduce TopGun as the US Navy's program to teach selected naval aviators and officers fighter and strike tactics. Here Tom Cruise as CAPT Pete "Maverick" Mitchell, bearing a pang of guilt from his past returns to TopGun to teach a batch of best TopGun graduates for a mission. Mission to enter into a highly difficult, nearly impossible enemy area and accomplish to destroy an unsanctioned uranium enrichment plant.
This was a mission like no way back to home if not done perfectly, and those kids weren't even ready to undergo training within a short period of time to execute this kinda extreme mission, also the officers in charge of that mission weren't willing to send Maverick as captain with those kids. So the story contained about this mission, training, some amazing action scenes, and from the previous installment a guilt which was hunting him in this one too, his late RIO and best friend's son who was within those kids too, used to hate Maverick thinking of guilty for his father's death and for impeding his military career with an unknown reason. This knot to the past was an emotional ride, waiting to get clear with Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw, in the end, they got some exciting scenes together.
Actually, we were enjoying it together, so those action scenes were really thrilling. Seeing Tom Cruise in that jacket and riding a bike with Penny in the back was like goosebumps. Fighter jets, those dogfighting to earn their place, pushing them beyond the limit, exploring what the enemies couldn’t have anticipated, and while on those training and missions we got our expected thrill. Also the supporting characters did a great job with their roles. All came out as a perfect piece of pie to enjoy. I think it would have been much more enjoyable if we had watched it in a theatre. But no problem, we enjoyed it here too, one of my cousins has a huge crush on Tom Cruise and she was jumping with excitement throughout the whole movie.
So yeah, Top Gun: Maverick gave us an exciting ride, everyone of us enjoyed it to its fullest. Met our requirements and expectations. If you are planning to watch solo or with friends then go for it, you won't regret watching. Next time, I will be saving some horror movies to watch together, that would be more exciting, hehe.
